Eens, met name de mutaties zorgen voor nog een lange periode van testen, testen en testen.

De Braziliaanse variant komt nu steeds meer in het nieuws.

Is daar een oplossing voor?

Results
Using isolated RNA variplex™?RT-LAMP showed a sensitivity of 75 % compared to LightMix?E gene RT-PCR but contrary to the latter it produced no false-positive results. Using the approach to define a sample as true-positive when at least two assays gave a positive result the clinical sensitivities were as follows: 76.3 % for variplex™, 84.2 % for Allplex™?and 68.4 % for VIASURE. However, when results of RT-PCR and RT-LAMP were combined diagnostic sensitivity was increased to 92–100 %.

Conclusion
The variplex RT-LAMP may serve as a rapid test to be combined with a RT-PCR assay to increase the diagnostic accuracy in patients with suspected COVID-19 infection.

AFSBio is proud to partner with Novacyt Group/Primer Design for North America to offer their SaRS-COV-2 (FDA/EUA approved) and SaRS-COV2 Winterplex assays. Both CE-IVD certified.

They test for both ORF1ab and the S gene with 100% specificity. The Winterplex assay also includes Influenza A, B, and RSV.

Their latest press release shows that both tests can still detect the new COVID-19 variant by the UK's COVID-19 Genomics UK consortium, known as VUI-202012/01 with the same high level of accuracy.

Novacyt notes this new strain of the virus has also been identified in other countries, including the Netherlands, Denmark, and Australia.
