TECHNICAL services provider Royal Imtech has chosen Keele University Science and Business Park (KUSBP) to house its newest UK telecoms unit.
The new telecoms team has moved into KUSBP’s Innovation Centre IC2, and forms part of Imtech Traffic & Infra, a division that delivers technology solutions for traffic and infrastructure sectors.
Specialising in telecom services for organisations including the Highways Agency, Local Government and education establishments, the team’s work includes the design, installation, maintenance and management of telecoms networks across a range of technologies.
The Keele office will house the office, pre-staging facility and Network Operations Centre (NOC) for the telecoms team’s operations.
Before moving into IC2, the team travelled between other UK offices in Birmingham and Manchester.
Forming one of KUSBP’s four innovation centres, IC2 opened ten years ago to provide high-spec, flexible facilities for expanding technology organisations.
Angus Higgins, business and commercial manager at Imtech Traffic & Infra, said: “Following a successful 12 months, we wanted to find the right facilities that would support the continued growth of our telecoms arm and enable us to expand the new team.
“IC2’s accessible location and on-site facilities means we’re able to do just that.
“As a technology company, innovation and continual development is at the heart of our operation and being based at a university site such as KUSBP also provides us with the perfect environment to build on this.”
KUSBP and Staffordshire County Council recently announced plans for a new £5m innovation centre - IC5 - which, when complete, will provide an additional 30,129 sq ft of new Grade A office and workshop accommodation on the site.
Caroline Mairs, head of KUSBP, said: “This is an exciting time for KUSBP as we welcome yet another international business onto the site and develop our plans for IC5.
“We’re committed to making KUSBP a hub for innovation and research opportunities by providing the right environment for businesses of all sizes to flourish.
“We look forward to working with Imtech Traffic & Infra as they continue to deliver and build on their services.”
