Thinly traded micro cap XBiotech (XBIT +69.2%) jumps on an impressive 25x surge in volume in response to its announcement that a European Phase 3 trial evaluating lead product candidate Xilonix in advanced colorectal cancer met its primary endpoint. The positive news is a reversal of fortune considering the news several weeks ago about problems with the management of the trial.

33% (n=68) of the 207 patients randomized to receive Xilonix met responder criteria compared 19% (n=19) of the 102 placebo recipients (p=0.009).

The study assessed Xilonix's anti-tumor activity using a novel co-primary endpoint based on responder analysis as a surrogate measure. X-ray imaging was used to quantify the change in lean body mass while a questionnaire called the European Organization of Research and Evaluation of Cancer (EORTC-QLQ-C30) was used to assess health status. Responders were those who showed conserved/improved lean body mass and EORT-QLQ-C30 performance over the treatment period (four cycles of therapy over eight weeks). Xilonix is the first anti-cancer agent evaluated under the European Medicines Agency's guidance using the surrogate measure.

Xilonix is a True Human monoclonal antibody (IgG1k) that binds to interleukin-1alpha, thereby blocking the inflammation that supports tumor growth, spread and symptomatic effects of the cancer.

The company intends to promptly proceed with its regulatory submissions.

Heb een plukje hiervan aangeschaft. lijkt me na dit nieuws een goede investering. Nu weet ik dat het hier vooral over Galapagos gaat en de overname of partner die er misschien ooit komt. Volgens mij zijn er maar weinig beleggers hier die buiten NL beleggen.
