KPN is among Western Europe’s cheapest telecommunications stocks, trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of 7.5 times, less than half the regional industry average of 17 times, according to data on 40 companies compiled by Bloomberg.
By another measure, enterprise value compared to earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, KPN’s ratio of 4.3 compares with the industry average of 28. Enterprise value is measured by subtracting cash from market capitalization plus debt.
KPN’s ratio of net debt to Ebitda, a measure of liquidity, was 2.46 times, up from 2.15 a year earlier. The ratio was smaller than Telefonica and Portugal Telecom SGPS SA (PTC) and larger than Deutsche Telekom AG and France Telecom SA. (FTE)
