President Donald Trump summoned top political advisers including his re-election campaign manager, Brad Parscale, for a White House meeting on Thursday as his political standing erodes in key battleground states, according to people familiar with the matter.

Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, who is the de facto leader of his re-election effort, participated in the meeting, the people said, as did Deputy Campaign Manager Bill Stepien and Trump’s top pollster, Tony Fabrizio.

One of the people said it was expected to be a tense meeting, describing internal polls that show Trump performing poorly in politically competitive states across the country. The people asked not to be identified because the meeting wasn’t on Trump’s public schedule for the day.

Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows and Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel were also in the meeting.

In a subsequent meeting with about 20 communications staff from the campaign and RNC, Trump seemed upbeat and confident, according to one person who was there. The president was especially interested in campaign efforts to draw support from black voters, the person said.

Trump has repeatedly claimed this week, in the wake of nationwide protests against police brutality, that he has done more for African Americans than any president since Abraham Lincoln, citing low unemployment among blacks before the coronavirus outbreak that collapsed the economy and a law he signed overhauling prison sentences for non-violent offenders.

A Fox News poll released Wednesday showed Trump’s presumptive opponent in November, former Vice President Joe Biden, leading the president by 8 points nationally, 48 to 40. Biden holds leads in three states Trump won in 2016, according to the poll: Wisconsin, Ohio and Arizona.

The same survey showed the two men tied at 42 percent just last month.

A Monmouth University poll showed Biden up by a full 11 percentage points nationally, 52 to 41. And a new Quinnipiac University poll shows the race essentially tied in Texas, a reliably Republican state Trump cannot afford to lose.

Trump begrijpt, dat wanneer hij dit weekend zou gaan golfen, dit de woede van het volk op zijn hals zou halen, en tot demonstraties rond zijn Trump National Golf Club Bedminster zou leiden.

Het zou laf zijn om te zeggen ik durf niet, uit angst voor protesten.

Hij had de 200 km met zijn helikopter kunnen bereiken, dankzij de mogelijkheid dat er nog beperkte vluchten toegestaan kunnen worden, op aanvraag.
De FAA heeft deze mogelijkheid teniet gedaan door ook daarvoor als algemene maatregel, geen toestemming te geven.

Trump heeft nu een geldig excuus, hij durft wel te gaan, maar de FAA regels beletten het.

Enige tijd geleden al, gemeld in dit Trump draadje, had Trump Brad Parscale, zijn 2020 campagne manager op het matje geroepen.

Mogelijk een gelijksoortig verhaal.

Er kwamen een aantal weken geleden verhalen in het nieuws dat Brad Parscale, als Trump 2020 campagne manager, grote bedragen van de donaties aan Trump's campagne in eigen zak liet vloeien. En men gaf voorbeelden van zijn riante levensstijl en extravagante aankopen.

Trump heeft daarop Bill Stepien aangesteld als Deputy Campaign Manager, onder Parscale.
Zo zou Trump beter zicht hebben op de zelfverrijking van Parscale en Parscale onder controle houden.
Of de persoonlijkheid van Stephen sterk genoeg is om Parscale te controleren blijft de vraag.

Australie heeft de US opheldering gevraagd over het brute optreden van de politie tegen Australische verslaggevers.
Dit was tijdens het verwijderen van de demonstranten, m Trump de gelegenheid te geven zijn bijbel show op te voeren.

AG Barr defends his black-clad secret police force: It’s OK they ‘wouldn’t want to talk to people about who they were’

Attorney General Bill Barr is defending his use of an unmarked, unidentified, black-clad heavily-armed paramilitary federal secret police force brandishing riot gear, on the streets of the nation’s capital. Apparently they have been deployed to, as he put it Sunday, “reestablish law and order.”

Many across DC have taken to social media, posting photos and video of these mysterious “soldiers” seemingly charged not with protecting the citizenry, but with protecting the federal government from the citizenry.

They wear no identifying labels: No one can see their name or rank, what agency they work for, what their job is, why they are there. They wear no badges. They just showed up and the Attorney General did not even ask the Mayor of Washington DC or anyone else if it was OK.

They are heavily armed, wear different uniforms, and refuse to say who they are.

When asked, they say they work for the Dept. of Justice. None will be more explicit than that – so clearly they were instructed to not tell anyone who they work for.

Even though the people asking pay their salaries – and have every legal right to know.

The Attorney General thinks his secret police force is a great idea and on Thursday defended their silence.

“I could understand why some of these individuals simply wouldn’t want to talk to people about who they were if that in fact was the case,” Barr told reporters asking on Thursday.

“Barr and Bureau of Prisons Director Michael Carvajal said at a Thursday press conference that the officers were from the Bureau of Prisons Special Operations Response Team (SORT),” Yahoo News reports.

“We normally operate within the confines of our institution and we don’t need to identify ourselves. Most of our identification is institution specific and probably wouldn’t mean a whole lot to people in D.C.,” Carvajal said.

“I probably should have done a better job of marking them nationally as the agency. Point is well taken. But I assure you that no one was specifically told in my knowledge not to identify themselves.”

If they weren’t told not to identify themselves why do they all deliver the same response, that they work for DOJ?

Bishop who criticized Trump gets blocked from accessing her church — thanks to new White House border wall

Bishop Mariann Budde, who earlier this week criticized President Donald Trump for using the St. John’s Church as a photo-op location without asking permission, was unable to access her church this week to hold a planned vigil.

Mother Jones reports that Budde had wanted to use the church to hold a vigil in solidarity with protesters on Wednesday, but was prevented from doing so thanks to the new wall being constructed around the perimeter of the White House complex that includes St. John’s Church.

Trump was de demonstranten zat dicht bij het Witte Huis.
Er werd bedacht dat hij naar St John Church moest wandelen en daar met de bijbel in de hand een foto shoot maken.
Daartoe moesten de demonstranten hardhandig verwijderd worden.
De kerkleiding van St John Church heeft kritiek op Trump dat hij de demonstranten hardhandig verwijderde en ook omdat hij de Kerk gebruikte ter meerdere eer en glorie voor hemzelf.

Trump, die kritiek hard afstraft, laat in een reactie hekken zetten ook om de St John's Church.

De Kerk kan dan geen diensten meer houden omdat het gebouw niet bereikbaar is.

Wat een laf gedrag van deze onderkruiper.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy described Ryaboshapka as “100 percent my person” on a call in July 2019 in which Trump asked Zelenskiy to investigate Biden, the man who became his main rival in the 2020 presidential race.

Trump’s Ex-Intelligence Adviser to Stay as Kosovo-Serbia Envoy

Richard Grenell has resigned as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to Germany, but will continue to serve as U.S. envoy for talks between Kosovo and Serbia.

In a statement Tuesday, National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien thanked Grenell for his work as ambassador and as Trump’s acting Director of National Intelligence, a role now held by John Ratcliffe.

O’Brien said Grenell would still retain his pre-existing role, part-time, as the “president’s Special Envoy for Kosovo and Serbia negotiations,” and that Grenell would work out of the White House. Grenell moved into an office on the White House compound on Monday, two people familiar with the matter said.
