It is quickly becoming clear that senior figures in our government--and in the White House--not only supported the idea and goals of the January 6 terrorists, but provided material support, funding, and operational intelligence.

It got as far as holding the Guard in barracks.

The State Department has condemned foreign coups where strongman regimes kept their armies in barracks while inflicting violence on their political opponents. We correctly call them attacks on the rule of law itself.

THAT is what President Trump wanted, and why he must go.

That Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz cynically cheerled this insurrection is true. It also pales in severity to a public effort by the President of the United States to terrorize his own government into violating the Constitution.

Follow the thread on the National Guard story. Trump's power is in freefall--chasing down the leads and getting people to talk shouldn't be hard.

This is a Truth and Reconciliatiion Committee-level attack on democracy such as our country has never experienced before.

The clearing out of the Pentagon and its filling with Trump loyalists now appears in much darker and more calculated terms. It was that Pentagon that prohibited the D.C. Guard from carrying weapons during the protests. It is that Pentagon that refused repeated requests for help.

Donald Trump decided for his own reasons to test the limits of his power, both official (through his remaining loyalists in the Pentagon) and the unofficial (through the paramilitary he unleashed on the Congress he despises.)

We cut out the cancer now or it grows out of control.

So I hope you'll consider sharing this thread with your members of Congress, and amplifying it to those you think need to hear this. The time for action is now, and our nation will be measured by the decisions we make over the next 48 hours.

Woensdag stuurde Trump enkele duizenden MAGA fans naar het Capitol, na een toespraak van trump.
De menigte drong het Capitol binnen waar senatoren van het Huis en Senaat onder leiding van Mike Pence aanwezig waren.
Deze groep werd in veiligheid gebracht in een bunker.
De menigte in het Capitol scandeerde : "Hang Mike Pence"
Trump had het gebouw niet vooraf laten beveiligen door de National Guard.
Tijdens de bezetting werd Trump gevraagd om versterking door de National Guard.
Trump heeft dit verzoek niet ingewilligd.
Uiteindelijk heeft Mike Pence, die in het gebouw zat met vrouw en kinderen, de National Guard en de FBI opdracht gegeven assistentie te verlenen.

Max Burns neemt het veel te breed. De republikeinen waren het doelwit. Men had plannen om Pence te pakken. Het doel leek mij politiek gezien, de senatoren , de republikeinse in ieder geval ertoe te bewegen, de electorale votes niet te bekrachtigen. Dat leek het eerste doel.
Het is dus in eerste instantie een aanval op de republikeinse partij, waar ook bommen zijn geplaatst.
Dat moeten de Republikeinen eerst eens beginnen te beseffen, voordat ze de President steunen.

Voor veel van de protesters was het primaire doel denk ik een leuke instagram foto te maken. Zo van kijk mij eens hier op Capitol Hill de baas spelen. Die wisten ook niet echt wat de bedoeling was.
Nu is de vraag, wat is de aanleiding dat Trump dit verzon ? Wiens opdracht voerde hij uit ? Natuurlijk wilde hij in power blijven, maar dat kan alleen als je gedekt wordt door de echt belangrijke mensen. Het is een fabel te denken dat hij opkwam voor de gewone mens. Dus wie trekken er aan de touwtjes en wat was hun motief ?

Trump handelt uit eigen belang. Hij vindt alleen zichzelf echt belangrijk.

Iedere demonstrant die in het Capitool rond liep heeft de wet overtreden, is daar zelf verantwoordelijk voor en moet daar ook zelf de consequenties van dragen.

Trump verraadt ook nog zijn eigen volgelingen, wanneer blijkt dat hij aan de verliezende hand is.
