MOSKOU - Russische oligarchen zijn momenteel hun leven niet zeker. In 2022 zijn tot nu toe al veel steenrijke Russen om het leven gekomen. In veel gevallen lijkt het er op het eerste oog op dat ze een ongeluk hebben gehad of de hand aan zichzelf hebben geslagen. Maar boze tongen beweren dat de Russische president Vladimir Poetin achter de sterfgevallen zit.

Rode draad
Het is onduidelijk of er een rode draad is bij de bovengenoemde sterfgevallen dan wel moorden. Theorieën zijn er voldoende. Kritiek op de oorlog in Oekraïne is een mogelijkheid, al lijken veel van de gestorven oligarchen zich daar juist van te hebben onthouden. Het is waarschijnlijker dat ze te veel wisten, en dan vooral over Poetin. Protosenya’s bedrijf Novotek bijvoorbeeld lijkt een rol te spelen bij het beheer van het vermogen van de Russische president.

In dat geval zou het dus om afrekeningen gaan. Dat is althans wat de Russische Kremlin-criticus Gennady Gudkov vermoedt. „Laat de ’ratten’ niet ontsnappen, ze zouden kunnen praten”, zoals Gudkov het vermeende motief van het Kremlin verwoordt. „Als we onderkennen dat het regime tegenstanders en vijanden aan het elimineren is, zouden ze ook heel goed diegenen kunnen aanpakken die worden beschouwd als verraders die aan het systeem proberen te ontsnappen.”

Ukrainian troops destroy enemy's ammo depot in south

On September 14, the missile and artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the columns of enemy equipment, the Kakhovka Bridge, a pontoon crossing, as well as enemy equipment clusters in the area of ??Hola Prystan and Dudchan in the south of Ukraine.

Paratroopers down enemy Su-30 fighter with anti-aircraft gun

The members of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down a Russian Su-30 fighter aircraft with an anti-aircraft gun.

Sept 11-12, in occupied Luhansk region, convoys with S-300 & BUK missile systems were spotted moving in the direction of the Russian/Ukrainian border.

Stand van zaken
Goedemiddag, dit zijn de belangrijkste recente ontwikkelingen.

• Het Kremlin heeft voor de allereerste keer openlijk toegegeven dat het een nederlaag geleden heeft in Oekraïne. Volgens een Amerikaanse denktank doet Moskou er nu alles aan om Poetin vrij te pleiten van enige verantwoordelijkheid.

• De Oekraïense president Zelensky heeft vandaag een bezoek gebracht aan de recent bevrijde stad Izjoem. Hij bedankte de Oekraïense soldaten voor hun diensten en was aanwezig bij het hijsen van de Oekraïense vlag boven het uitgebrande gemeentehuis.

• Rusland heeft vermoedelijk voor het eerst Iraanse drones ingezet in de oorlog in Oekraïne. Dat schrijft het Britse ministerie van Defensie in zijn dagelijkse inlichtingenupdate.

• Oekraïense strijdkrachten hebben in hun recente offensief zo’n 8.000 vierkante kilometer gebied bevrijd. Dat vertelde Zelensky gisteravond in zijn dagelijkse videoboodschap.

• Volgens een militair adviseur van Zelensky zal het Oekraïense leger de komende dagen minder terreinwinst boeken op de Russische bezetters. Het tegenoffensief zal zich concentreren op een moeilijk in te nemen stad, Lyman.

Poetin en Xi Jingping zien elkaar in Oezbekistan
De Russische president Vladimir Poetin ontmoet zijn Chinese evenknie Xi Jingping morgen in Oezbekistan. Poetin en Xi zouden van de gelegenheid gebruik maken om elkaar daar onder vier ogen spreken over de inval in Oekraïne. China houdt zich daarover op de vlakte. Beide leiders zijn het wel eens dat samenwerken met Centraal-Aziatische landen een belangrijk alternatief kan worden voor samenwerking met het Westen.
