MacArthur wordt genoemd als "KEY PLAYER" in dit artikel over Pilbara Gold Junior mining companies.

"Other key players in the Pilbara gold play include New Frontier Exploration, Calidus Resources, Marindi Metals, Artemis Resources which is a 50/50 JV partner with Novo at Purdy’s Reward, International Prospect Ventures, Coziron Resources, Millenium Minerals, Arrow Minerals, Impact Minerals, Kalamazoo Resources, DGO Gold, Macarthur Minerals, and Pacton Gold."

Heb er nog steeds een plukje van op de plank liggen.... Artemis toch even de deur uit gedaan, echter schept de aangenomen CEO ook wel weer vertrouwen, dus ik overweeg daar met een plukje terug in te stappen.

To all longs

Some at this board have expressed their concerns about MacArthur's board not being very pro-active and their frustration about MMS's stealth mode whilst many other Pilbara Juniors can boast an impressive boost of shareprice. I don't think that this is something we have to worry about, at least not now with the acquisition phase getting into the next gear.

One should always look for management's track record and make this the number one priority when making decisions about whether or not to invest in a Junior. I have almost always followed this key rule but am inclined to disregard this aspect in this particular case. Whether the MMS priority is still iron ore, gold, lithium, nicol or cobalt is not a real concern anymore as I believe that its future faith lies in the hands of others.

All of the above mentioned MMS plays may prove to be extremely valuable to the company but ONLY when mid- or large tiers decide that the MMS tenements will suit their present needs. Expect fireworks in the Pilbara take-out department! I do not believe that yesterday's take over by Pacton is the last but rather the first in a (long) row and we have the strike length and grades which must be appealing to predators that are lying in the wings.

But it's not ONLY the Pilbara that may get us into high gear, and in that respect we differ from most other Pilbara juniors which are only grass roots gold plays. The next PR on the Lithium Nevada project could be about a take over of our tenements and simirlarly iron ore could prove to be the catalyst which blasts our sp beyond the $0.20 Remember in one of my former posts the remark by Joe, he still expects the shareprice to rise and said (and I quote): "it only takes one good PR".

All we need to do at present is just wait patiently as I am convinced that our time will come soon.

Cobalt Free Cathodes for Lithium Ion Batteries

Oak Ridge National Laboratory researchers have developed a new family of cathodes with the potential to replace the costly cobalt-based cathodes typically found in today’s lithium-ion batteries that power electric vehicles and consumer electronics. The new class called NFA, which stands for nickel-, iron- and aluminum-based cathode, is a derivative of lithium nickelate and can be used to make the positive electrode of a lithium-ion battery. These novel cathodes are designed to be fast charging, energy dense, cost effective, and longer lasting.

With the rise in the production of portable electronics and electric vehicles throughout the world, lithium-ion batteries are in high demand. According to Ilias Belharouak, ORNL’s scientist leading the NFA research and development, more than 100 million electric vehicles are anticipated to be on the road by 2030. Cobalt is a metal currently needed for the cathode which makes up the significant portion of a lithium-ion battery’s cost.

Cobalt is rare and largely mined overseas, making it difficult to acquire and produce cathodes. As a result, finding an alternative material to cobalt that can be manufactured cost effectively has become a lithium-ion battery research priority.

ORNL scientists tested the performance of the NFA class of cathodes and determined they are promising substitutes for cobalt-based cathodes, as described in Advanced Materials and the Journal of Power Sources. Researchers used neutron diffraction, Mossbauer spectroscopy and other advanced characterization techniques to investigate NFA’s atomic- and micro-structures as well as electrochemical properties.

Future research and development on the NFA class will include testing the materials in large-format cells to validate the lab-scale results and further explore the suitability of these cathodes for use in electric vehicles.

The work was sponsored by DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Vehicle Technologies Office.

COBALT: Stratton Metal to market Ambatovy’s cobalt for 3 years
181 Views

London-based Stratton Metal Resources will begin marketing cobalt produced by the Ambatovy project in Madagascar next year.

The company told Kallanish on Wednesday it has signed a three-year contract with the joint venture between Sumitomo and Korea Resources, from 2022 to 2024. The deal will cover the European and North American markets.

“Volumes will depend on prices and terms available in each jurisdiction and of course depend on production, but should be roughly 60-70% of Ambatovy output for three years,” adds senior trader Gordon Buchanan.

Ambatovy has annual capacity to produce 6,000 tonnes of nickel and 5,6000 t of cobalt, 99.9% purity. The industrial mining and refining operation in Madagascar produces finished nickel, cobalt and ammonium sulphate, used as raw material for the manufacturing of EV batteries, stainless stell and chemicals.

The cobalt is sold in powered form and as 40-gram briquettes, and is packaged in 250-kilogram drums, according to the JV. Sumitomo is expected to continue selling the material in Asia and elsewhere.
