And now it’s TomTom’s turn to receive this major update, with the latest update for GO Navigation bringing support for the CarPlay dashboard to Apple users.
Version 2.4 is the one making it happen after the beta build with dashboard support first debuted no less than 5 months ago.
In addition, this new update also introduces additional capabilities, including alternative routes that are now displayed on CarPlay too. The parent company says it has also enabled traffic services in more countries, including Slovenia, Estonia, Bosnia, and Serbia, while also updating Siri Shortcuts with support for home, work, and recent locations.
There’s another important new feature in this update, and users are going to love it. Starting with this new version, TomTom users can just steer to an alternative route to take it, which means no other form of input is required for the whole thing. So if you see an alternative route displayed on the map, just follow it, and it’s automatically enabled.
Overall, TomTom is becoming one of the best navigation apps on CarPlay, especially because the feature lineup comes with several other goodies, including speed camera warnings, ETA sharing, regularly updated maps, lane guidance and so much more. A trial version is also available to try out the app before getting a subscription.
