Climate-neutral bus transport in Frankfurt am Main with green hydrogen

Herning, Denmark, 18 February 2022 – In-der-City-Bus GmbH orders heavy-duty hydrogen station from Everfuel. In December 2021 it was announced that Everfuel had been awarded a contract by a public organisation in the Frankfurt area in Germany, and all parties have now signed the final contract.

In a Europe-wide tendering procedure, In-der-City-Bus GmbH (ICB) has awarded Everfuel GmbH the contract for the planning, construction and commissioning of a hydrogen refuelling station. The contract also includes maintenance and servicing. Additionally, Everfuel was awarded the contract for the supply of hydrogen for a minimum of three years.

This is the first order for Everfuel GmbH in Germany since the company was founded at the beginning of 2021 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Everfuel A/S from Denmark.

"We are pleased with the order from ICB and grateful for the confidence they have shown in us. This project positions us in the very exciting German market and enables us to show existing and new customers our innovative solutions for zero-emission transport," says Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO at Everfuel.

The planned hydrogen refuelling station has the capacity to refuel at least 22 fuel-cell buses per day. It is designed to be fully redundant and modular so that the station can easily be expanded to refuel a larger number of hydrogen buses.

The green hydrogen (H2) dispensed will be delivered in Everfuel’s custom-build hydrogen trailers. The project will contribute to a significant reduction to emissions of climate-damaging greenhouse gases.

With this project, ICB is launching the next phase of its electrification concept where battery buses have been in use since 2018. With the fuel cell buses, the company is now integrating the second fossil-free technology into its fleet. In the future, the respective technological system advantages will thus be played out in Frankfurt's local transport.

ICB ordered their first 13 fuel cell buses from Solaris in mid-2021. These will be operated on the 22-kilometre Line 36 when delivered. The line runs almost exclusively through densely populated inner-city districts and areas close to the city center of Frankfurt.

"With the construction of our own hydrogen refuelling station and the implementation of the fuel cell buses, ICB has reached another milestone on the way to climate-neutral urban transport. Our goal is to complete the technology change from diesel to locally emission-free, low-noise fleets powered by hydrogen or electricity by 2030. An important prerequisite for this is an efficient and reliable infrastructure. We are convinced that with Everfuel we have found the right partner for our hydrogen refuelling station and the supply of hydrogen. And we are proud to support the climate targets set by the city of Frankfurt am Main," says Stephanie Schramm, Managing Director at IBC.

Hydrogen buses now serving passengers in Heinenoord, NL

Heinenoord, The Netherlands, 11 March, 2022 – The new hydrogen station in Heinenoord in South Holland was today declared open as the station started supplying a fleet of 20 fuel cell buses with green hydrogen.

Today the new heavy-duty hydrogen refuelling station built by Everfuel in Heinenoord, NL, started dispensing hydrogen for a fleet of 20 hydrogen buses from Connexxion that are co-funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership as part of the JIVE 2 project. The station was realised through a close collaboration between the province of Zuid-Holland, the municipality of Hoeksche Waard, Connexxion who operates the buses and Everfuel who built and operates the station.

Ready for the future

The station has the capacity to accommodate 50+ fuel cell buses in a redundant set-up. The station can be scaled up to accommodate fuelling of other fuel cell vehicles such as trucks in the future. This is a major step in the energy transition in the province of Zuid-Holland, where the aim is to provide zero emission public transport by 2030. Everfuel will be supplying the station with green hydrogen produced at sites in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark for a minimum of 12 years.

Grand opening

At the opening Connexxion demonstrated how a fuel cell bus is refuelled with hydrogen and Everfuel gave a tour of the station and a look behind the scenes.

“The opening of the new hydrogen refuelling station is an essential step towards reaching our ambition: zero emission public transport by 2030,” says Frederik Zevenbergen, regional minister at the province of Zuid-Holland.

“We are delighted to contribute to the decarbonisation of the public transport in the province of Zuid-Holland. Adopting new technologies to fight climate change is something we take great pride in, and we look forward to operating the fleet of hydrogen buses,” says Ben Dwars the regional director at Connexxion.

“The station in Heinenoord is one of the largest hydrogen stations in Europe. Building such a station with the support of the visionary collaborators, has been a great pleasure. It truly demonstrates that the energy transition is happening now, and that green hydrogen is a sustainable energy carrier on the way to reaching fossil-free transportation,” says Jacob Krogsgaard the CEO at Everfuel.

HySynergy announced as Lighthouse Project
Herning, Denmark, 30 March, 2022 – Everfuel’s HySynergy project was today announced as a Lighthouse project by Hydrogen Europe as it spearheads the roll-out of large-scale hydrogen implementation.

Lighthouse projects are hydrogen initiatives that stands out, are integrated, makes a difference for climate and employees, and which are large in scale. With the announcement of HySynergy as a Lighthouse project, the project is manifested to be much more than an electrolyser facility. The Hydrogen Europe’s Lighthouse initiative aims to support such projects and speed up the roll-out of hydrogen across Europe.

HySynergy will produce its first green hydrogen late in 2022 from the initial 20MW electrolyser. The facility will be scaled to 300MW in 2025 and 1GW in 2030, whereby it lives up to the Lighthouse criteria of being a large-scale project based on significant investments. The project further follows the criteria of being integrated with surrounding projects for instance by supplying excess heat from the electrolyser to the local district heating system.

Besides delivering green hydrogen to Everfuel’s own fuelling stations, the HySynergy project will deliver green hydrogen to the adjacent refinery through a direct pipe. Crossbridge Energy A/S, who owns the refinery, is an important project partner and off taker of the hydrogen produced at HySynergy.

“At Crossbridge Energy Fredericia, we have an ambition of being climate neutral by 2035. In order to reach that ambitious target, it requires us to act now and explore new ways of working. The HySynergy project will support our carbon footprint reduction considerably and signals a new era for the refinery. With HySynergy’s status as a Lighthouse project, we are prouder than ever to be a part of the project and collaborate with Everfuel on the future expansion,” says Finn Schousboe, CEO at Crossbridge Energy A/S.
“The collaboration between Everfuel and Crossbridge shows how new and old technologies can work together to create the needed energy transition. At the same time, it establishes Fredericia municipality as a municipality that actively supports the green agenda while keeping local jobs. As a Lighthouse project, HySynergy will have significant relevance for both climate end employees,” says Steen Wrist, Mayor of Fredericia Municipality.

“We are extremely honoured and proud to be named as a Lighthouse project. We see it as the Oscars of Hydrogen where extraordinary projects are highlighted as Lighthouses. When we named the project HySynergy we knew it would not solely be an electrolyser facility. It would be a green energy facility with synergies to the wider society. HySynergy is a prime example of the green energy transition where renewable energy is utilised to the greatest possible extent,” says Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO at Everfuel.

Along with the honour of being named a Lighthouse project follows a number of toolboxes from Hydrogen Europe to further advance and mature the project.

Everfuel launches mobile refuelling unit
Herning, Denmark 18 May 2022 – The refuelling unit, the Everfiller, is a flexible and fully mobile hydrogen fuelling solution targeted at smaller vehicle fleets.
The unit allows Everfuel to offer low hydrogen prices at lower volumes than a conventional filling station, and does not require long-term customer commitment, which is normally required for building a fixed station. The unit is fully mobile and can simply be rolled away when the fuelling period is finished, which allows Everfuel to offer much greater flexibility in terms of length and size of offtake commitment.
Smaller fuel-cell vehicle fleet owners have previously faced the challenge of costly investments in full-scale stationary stations and the need to commit to commit to long-term offtake, which does not always fit with the operator’s business model. Many operators would however like to decarbonise their fleets by trying or adopting hydrogen fuel but have struggled to find a way over these hurdles. The Everfiller lowers these barriers and makes hydrogen fuel accessible for users with small depots or who wish to conduct small scale trials.
The simplicity of the design in the Everfiller limits maintenance requirements which provides high uptime and high availability whenever needed. The unit has three onboard integrated fuelling lines that can be directly filled from, which offers fuelling for up to three vehicles in parallel. The unit will in particular be beneficial in bus depots.
“Adding the Everfiller to our services offers greater flexibility for a range of customers as they can choose the stationary station which offers fast fuelling at all times, or the flexible and cheap solution in the Everfiller. We have experienced a great demand for operators to be able to test hydrogen as a fuel and we could not be more excited that we are now able to make hydrogen available for even more people working towards the decarbonisation of mobility,” says Uffe Borup, CTO at Everfuel.
Discussions with prospective users of the Everfiller solution have generated a very warm reception to date, both due to the Everfiller’s flexibility and its ability to significantly lower the cost of hydrogen for the customer with at least € 1 per kilo. A number of Public Transport Operators, including German PTOs Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK), WSW mobil GmbH and In-der-City Bus (ICB), have expressed their enthusiasm for utilising the solution to fuel their vehicles and for participating in prototype testing.
The Everfiller is based on patent-pending technology from Everfuel, and pilots are expected in the second half of 2023 with full scale operation in 2024.

The company is engaging with partners, customers and authorities across the entire value chain, from production to distribution and fuelling, when executing its long-term strategy for value creation as a leading European green hydrogen fuel company.
The company continues to expand its European hydrogen (H2) fuelling network, develop hydrogen production and establish industrial partnerships to position hydrogen as a leading zero-emission fuel and enabler for decarbonised transport at scale. This includes the recent introduction of the hydrogen hub concept with a new partnership in Kristiansand, Norway, as the first announced site. End-user activity continued to increase with a growing fleet of hydrogen taxis in Denmark, partly tempered by COVID-19 measures implemented in 2021, and the initial volumes delivered to the zero-emission buses in Heinenoord, the Netherlands.
“The urgency of making hydrogen happen now has never been greater as the devastating war in Ukraine continues and Europe seeks to end its dependency on Russian oil and gas. Green hydrogen is clearly one of the pivotal energy carriers that will contribute to the EU’s future energy independence and to global decarbonisation of transport and industry. Everfuel is ready to help drive the energy transition. We continue to build our hydrogen ecosystem brick by brick. This includes establishing new production capacity, led by our HySynergy project in Denmark, and expanding our refuelling station network to connect the major cities in Scandinavia and in Europe,” said Jacob Krogsgaard, the founder and CEO of Everfuel.
Everfuel had total revenue, representing sale of hydrogen and other operating revenue, of EUR 385 thousand in the first quarter of 2022. Direct revenue from hydrogen increased compared to the previous quarter due to the introduction of additional hydrogen taxis in Copenhagen, partly offset by Covid-19 restrictions at the start of the year. Initial revenue was recognised at Heinenoord, however at low levels due to few buses delivered to date. Offtake is expected to increase with the active bus fleet. EBITDA was negative EUR 2.4 million, reflecting continued ramp-up of activity and organisation during the quarter.
The financial results reflect that the company is still in the initial stages of commercializing the green hydrogen value chain in its target markets.
Total assets at 31 March 2022 amounted to EUR 93 million, compared to EUR 83.8 million at 31 December 2021, of which cash holdings were EUR 64.1 million (EUR 59.3 million). The increase reflects receipt of the first disbursement from EIB loan facility in January 2022. Total equity amounted to EUR 74.3 million (EUR 77.2 million). Changes from year-end 2021 reflects mainly investments made during the first quarter.

The hub includes the construction of a 20 MW electrolyser at the Elkem Fiskaa industrial compound in Kristiansand, Norway.
The primary focus for the hub is to serve the shipping industry with renewable fuel where Kristiansand is a major port for both Norwegian coastal traffic and marine traffic to the rest of the European continent. Kristiansand is also a key landing point for the European transportation corridor through Jylland in Denmark onwards to Norway. The planning and execution of the project will commence immediately with planned start-up of operations in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The project hub is the first major joint venture between Everfuel and Greenstat following cooperation agreement signed in July 2021. Hydrogen Hub Agder will be developed in collaboration between the two parties and the industrial companies Elkem and Glencore Nikkelverk.
“We are very pleased with the grant from Enova and consider it as a vote of confidence to the role Everfuel and Greenstat are playing to facilitate the green shift in Norway. We are looking forward to work with our clients and together with Greenstat, Elkem and Glencore Nikkelverk to deliver on the plan we have presented to Enova,” says Jacob Krogsgaard, the CEO of Everfuel.
“In Greenstat we would also like to express our gratitude to the support and trust from Enova to realise the Hydrogen Hub Agder project. It is a real pleasure for us to work with this project in our home region. Kristiansand municipality and Agder County have both mobilised strong and valuable support for the project. Together we have a clear ambition to realise the ‘Electric Region Agder’ vision and to make the maritime sector fossil-free,” says Torstein Thorsen Ekern, managing director of Greenstat Energy.
“The partnership with Everfuel has been very constructive and has complemented our own competence and business orientation. Everfuel’s extensive experience with hydrogen production and distribution is of great value to the development, and the cooperation with the industry companies Elkem and Glencore Nikkelverk, adds further strength and solidity to the Hydrogen Hub Agder project,” says Vegard Frihammer, the CEO of Greenstat ASA.
The partners are targeting the fast-growing shipping segment and offtake opportunities from partners in the construction industry, trucking mobility, refuse services, taxi fleets as well as providing green energy supplies to industrial clients. Everfuel and Greenstat has signed Letters of Intent with several clients representing a total offtake of more than 8 000 metric tons (MT) of compressed hydrogen per year. The full hub potential is planned to be realised after a second development phase which will increase the electrolyser capacity to 60 MW.
“The hub development reflects the fruitful collaboration we have with Greenstat, who are equally dedicated as us in making green hydrogen commercially available. In this project, we have engaged with a number of visionary and ambitious partners who are all exploring different ways of decarbonising their operations. We look forward to developing competitive hydrogen solutions for multiple purposes and to make shipping, mobility and industry in Norway a bit greener. The Hub will also support the development of an efficient supply chain to serve our fuelling network along the south coast of Norway with green hydrogen,” says Helge Skaarberg Holen, Country Manager for Everfuel in Norway.
The project has entered into a partnership agreement with Elkem for the lease of seafront land on the Fiskaa industrial compound near the Kristiansand harbour. The construction is planned in two phases, where the first phase is a hydrogen production facility with a 20 MW electrolyser producing around 8 MT of green hydrogen per day. The second phase is expected to be commissioned in 2027, expanding the PtX facility to a 60 MW electrolyser.
The location near the harbour is ideal for maritime hydrogen supplies using both container swapping and cascade fuelling. A group of ambitious partners including Holland-Norway Lines, FFS Marine, Arriva Shipping and several undisclosed companies have signed letters of intent (LOIs), expressing their interest in offtaking hydrogen from the facility. As Kristiansand is also a logistics hub for multiple companies, the location is attractive for partners in the mobility segments. ASKO, a leading logistics company, and UMOE, a leading hydrogen gas container producer located in Kristiansand, are among mobility partners signing LOIs for hydrogen offtake.
Furthermore, an LOI has been signed with Glencore Nikkelverk for the offtake of the excess oxygen from the production facility. Combined with a potential use of excess heat from the facility in collaboration with Elkem Carbon, Everfuel and Greenstat will create a highly energy-efficient PtX-facility aiming for a power efficiency in excess of 90%. This would make it one of the most efficient water electrolysis facilities in Europe.
Depending permitting, the commissioning of the first phase is expected in late 2024.

Everfuel and Crossbridge Energy agree on terms for HySynergy Phase II hydrogen supplies
Herning and Fredericia, 27 June 2022 - Everfuel A/S and Crossbridge Energy A/S have signed a long-term agreement stipulating the terms for hydrogen supply from the first stage of Everfuel’s HySynergy Phase II PtX facility which is under development in Fredericia, Denmark. The agreement is an important step in the realisation of the planned 300MW electrolyser plant.
The two project partners have agreed on the commercial terms for the initial stage of the electrolyser facility which will be developed in three stages (A, B and C) each with 100 MW electrolysis capacity.
Section A will have a production capacity of up to 40 tons of green hydrogen per day, which will be used for more sustainable fuel production at the adjacent Crossbridge Energy refinery, and as a zero-emission fuel for mobility and industry.
”The long-term agreement on commercial terms with Crossbridge Energy is an important enabler for the HySynergy Phase II development project. We share a strong partnership and are eager to continue our collaboration on building a large-scale PtX facility as a game changer for the energy transition in Denmark. Before that, we of course look forward to starting operations of the Phase I electrolyser facility later this year and deliver the first green hydrogen to our partners and our stations,” says Jacob Krogsgaard, the CEO of Everfuel.
“Hydrogen is the key to unlocking the full potential of green fuels. With Crossbridge Energy’s refinery and the Everfuel’s HySynergy project, we are taking a great leap forward towards more sustainable fuels. Initially, we will replace hydrogen based on fossil fuels with green hydrogen at our refinery, but we are also starting the next step of the Danish PtX journey,” says Finn Schousboe, the CEO of Crossbridge Energy.
The second phase of HySynergy, will when fully operational as planned in 2025, facilitate an annual reduction of up to 500,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from the mobility sector and industry. This corresponds to approximately 11 % of the annual Danish land-based transport sector’s carbon emissions. Crossbridge Energy and Everfuel will further develop partnership agreements with external parties for the supply of excess oxygen and heat from the new facility to increase its overall efficiency.
The first phase of HySynergy, which consists of a 20 MW electrolyser, is currently under construction next to the Crossbridge Energy refinery and is expected to produce the first green hydrogen in late 2022. The second phase will be developed in connection with Phase I. The land plot is already outlined and prepared for construction subject to receiving IPCEI funding from the EU for the stage A electrolyser.

Everfuel receives grant for building eight hydrogen stations
Herning, Denmark, 13 September 2022 – Everfuel A/S is pleased to announce that the company has received € 7.67 million in partial funding for eight hydrogen refuelling stations.

The funding is provided by the EU CEF AFIF program and will support the roll-out of hydrogen infrastructure across Northern Europe. Of the eight stations it is expected that one will be built in Germany, two in Sweden and five in Denmark.

The eight stations are a part of the GREATER4H project led by STRING, which will deploy a total of 14 hydrogen refuelling stations along the main traffic corridor from Hamburg to Oslo (TEN-T Scandinavian-Mediterranean core network corridor). The two hydrogen refuelling stations in Norway are not funded by CEF. All stations will be able to supply 350 and 700 bar dispensers, which will allow the refuelling of passenger vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles.

“With the funding from CEF we are one step closer to decarbonise the European road transport. Rolling out a network of accessible hydrogen stations is key to solving the “chicken or egg” issue and offering an alternative to driving on fossil fuels. We are happy to contribute to achieving both European and national emission reduction targets, and have already secured the location for two of the eight stations,” says Jacob Krogsgaard, the CEO of Everfuel.

Background

STRING is a membership organisation that connects local governments from Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, to collaborate on cross-border infrastructure development, facilitate the green transition in the transport sector and accelerate innovation and export in green tech. Everfuel was invited by STRING to participate in the GREATER4H project as one of three private partners for providing hydrogen refuelling stations.

Everfuel opens new station in Oslo
Herning, Denmark, 14 September 2022 – Everfuel has opened a new hydrogen refuelling station at Alnabru in Oslo, Norway. The station supports Everfuel’s ambition of rolling out a hydrogen infrastructure across Northern Europe.

In 2020 Everfuel won a tender from Oslo Municipality with the ambition of building an energy station in the Oslo area. That station has now been built and is open to the public. The capacity of the station will gradually be scaled up to meet increased requirements from expanding fleets of hydrogen vehicles.

“It is our second station in the Oslo area, and we are happy to offer more flexibility for the ones driving hydrogen vehicles in the Norwegian capital. As more zero emission vehicles are launched, we will expand the station’s capacity, so that even more cars and trucks can run on green fuel without any nuisance from noise or emissions,” says Jacob Krogsgaard, the CEO of Everfuel.

Oslo Municipality is also welcoming the station.

”We are happy to be able to offer hydrogen refuelling within the municipality. We would like to thank Everfuel for creating this option. The station will ensure that hydrogen passenger vehicles and taxis have better fuelling options i the capital area. In the longer run, the station will play a key role in transitioning the heavy-duty vehicles to run on hydrogen. It is vital to succeed with changing fossil-based trucks and busses to zero emission fuels if we are to reach our ambition of reducing the city’s emissions with 95 % before 2030,” says Petter N. Christiansen, Mobility Advisor at Klimaetaten.

The station is located at Nedre Kalbakkvei 96, Oslo.

Vamdrup and Herning, Denmark and Los Angeles, Calif. – September 20, 2022 – DAT A/S, Everfuel A/S, and Universal Hydrogen Co. have today announced a collaborative agreement to transform regional aviation in Denmark by enabling completely zero-emissions flight using clean hydrogen by the end of 2025.

The three companies will combine their respective expertise in flight operations, hydrogen fuel production, and hydrogen logistics and aircraft propulsion to bring into service hydrogen-powered ATR 72-600 regional aircraft on DAT routes in Denmark, with the goal of converting all of DAT's domestic flights to true zero emission flights by 2030.

DAT A/S is an experienced regional operator transporting close to one million passengers every year within Denmark, and to destinations across Europe. It plans to use ATR 72s converted using Universal Hydrogen technology. These aircraft will accommodate 56 passengers following conversion to hydrogen. Universal Hydrogen will also provide fuel services to supply green hydrogen produced by Everfuel using modular capsules, without the need for changes to existing airport infrastructure.

"The domestic flight of the future in Denmark can become 100% emission-free via hydrogen-powered aircraft," said DAT director Jesper Rungholm "Universal Hydrogen is in the advanced stages of developing a modification for our regional aircraft type, the ATR 72, making this possible as early as 2025. It will be perfectly suited to typical flight distances in Denmark and we are sure that customers will value flights that only emit clean water."

The green hydrogen will be produced by Everfuel, an energy production and distribution company based in Herning. The hydrogen will be produced based on renewable energy at Everfuel’s first Power-to-X (PtX) plant in Fredericia.

“At Everfuel, we are excited about the new collaboration, as our entire mission is to achieve a fossil-free society,” said Everfuel CEO Jacob Krogsgaard. “This applies particularly to the airline industry, where action must be taken now if we are to avoid exacerbating the climate crisis. The new consortium can deliver the whole package, where our role is to deliver the green hydrogen. Then our partners utilize the hydrogen in the planes, as hydrogen-based planes are the best use of resources if we are to achieve emission-free domestic flights."

The collaborative effort between the three companies follows the Government of Denmark’s request for tender, also announced today, to develop zero-emission commercial flights in Denmark.

“Collectively DAT, Everfuel, and Universal Hydrogen, possess the expertise needed to achieve Denmark’s ambitious target of achieving not just net zero but true zero emissions commercial flight as early as 2025,” said Paul Eremenko, co-founder and CEO of Universal Hydrogen. “DAT’s domestic network is a perfect early application for hydrogen fuel, and with the support of Everfuel, we can rapidly develop a complete hydrogen ecosystem in Denmark to usher in a new golden age of aviation built on clean flight.”

HySynergy 2.0 receives DKK 246.3 million in IPCEI funding
Herning, Denmark, 16 December 2022 – Everfuel A/S is pleased to announce the receipt of notification from the Danish government of funding under the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) program. The grant by the Danish government of total DKK 246.3 million (EUR 33.1 million) will be made available for the development of the second phase of the HySynergy facility.

HySynergy 2.0 will be developed together with Crossbridge Energy Fredericia as partner and will produce green hydrogen used to decarbonise industrial processes and transportation. In June, Everfuel and Crossbridge Energy agreed on terms for hydrogen supply from HySynergy 2.0, subject to receiving the now-granted IPCEI funding.

“This is a major milestone as we progress phase two of HySynergy towards final investment decision and a confirmation of the PtX project’s scale and significant contribution to decarbonisation of industry and transport in Denmark. We are very pleased with the support provided by the Danish government, the EU and our partners in the HySynergy project which will help accelerate commercialisation of green hydrogen,” says Jacob Krogsgaard, the CEO of Everfuel.

“We are now starting the new and greener future. Hydrogen is the key to producing greener fuels. HySynergy Phase two is a giant milestone and an industrial deployment of hydrogen production capacity will enable us to move fast forward,” says Finn Schousboe, the CEO Crossbridge Energy A/S.

Today’s notification follows the IPCEI status granted by the EU Commission on 21 September 2022. The funds will support development of Everfuel’s electrolyser and Crossbridge Energy’s co-processing. HySynergy 2.0 was in 2021 shortlisted by the Danish government as one of two Danish power-to-X projects eligible for public funding subject to IPCEI status. Both have since reived IPCEI status as projects that contribute to job creation and sustainable economic growth in the EU. The Danish government has allocated approximately DKK 850 million of funding for the two projects. Everfuel will receive the grant according to standard Danish regulations for public funding.

The first phase of the HySynergy project is the 20 MW electrolyser. HySynergy 2.0 will extend the existing facility with 300 MW electrolyser capacity through the development of three sections of 100 MW each. The public funding that follows the IPCEI status is connected to building the first 100 MW of the second phase.

HySynergy aims at producing large quantities of green hydrogen to be used in industry processes by the adjacent Crossbridge Energy refinery and other partners as well as for mobility purposes at Everfuel stations. By 2025, when the 300 MW electrolyser facility is established, HySynergy will facilitate an annual reduction of up to 500,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from the mobility sector and the industry, which corresponds to 11% of the total carbon emissions from the Danish land-based transport sector in 2020. Accumulated facility capacity planned for 1GW in 2030.

HySynergy is a project collaboration between Everfuel, Crossbridge Energy A/S, EWII, TREFOR, Aktive Energi Anlæg, TVIS and ENERGINET. It is a part of the first Everfuel hydrogen hub which are PtX facilities that scale green hydrogen via local value chains for production, distribution and consumption backed by long-term customer agreements.
