LUNA 2.0 falls by 77% in 14 days as Do Kwon takes Twitter account private

Two weeks after Terra’s ecosystem restarted through LUNA 2.0 airdrop, the coin has seen its value plummet to new lows after its price dropped by 77%. According to Coingecko data, the coin is currently trading for $4.33.

Although the overall performance of the crypto market has played a role in the decline, the level of FUD surrounding the new coin is also worth watching.

Trust in the new ecosystem is low as speculations have emerged about Do Kwon’s role in making the new Terra network.

The speculations came into light after self-proclaimed Terra insider FatMan alleged that Kwon and Terraform Labs lied about making the new network community-owned. He claimed that “TFL owns 42M LUNA, worth over $200m.”

Did Celsius set off the domino effect? Almost a month ago, The Block Crypto reported that Celsius pulled at least $500M from the Anchor protocol before the collapse. Two weeks ago, blockchain analytics firm Nansen identified Celsius among the seven big wallets that allegedly triggered the bank run on Anchor. Recently, Celsius responded.

Is this the explanation for the Terra/ LUNA collapse? Was this whole situation not a deliberate attack? Were natural market forces responsible instead? The estimation is that 75% of all UST in existence was locked in the Anchor Protocol, a service that offered a suspiciously high 19.5% yield. Anchor dev claims he warned Do Kwon over unsustainable 20% interest rate
Mr. B alleges that the platform was designed to only offer an interest rate of 3.6%, but that changed at the last minute.
Anchor protocol was originally designed to offer an interest rate of 3.6% but this was dialed up to 20% just a week before release to attract more investors, a core developer alleged in an interview with Korean media outlet JTBC.
“I did not know that this would go out with such a high-interest rate. Set to 20% just a week before the release,” said the employee, referred to only as Mr. B in the Korean-language report.
“I thought I was going to collapse from the beginning. (I designed it), but it collapsed 100%”
Mr. B said the platform was designed to only offer an interest rate of 3.6% and this was a key component of keeping the Terra ecosystem stable as it took into account the available funds in Anchor’s war chest.
Mr. B revealed however that a week before launch, the developers found out that the plans had been changed, giving investors access to a very high 20% interest for locking up their UST stablecoins in the Anchor Protocol instead.
The JTBC also claims it had obtained internal design documents made by Terraform Labs, which wrote about attracting investors with high-interest rates.
The developer said he attempted to take this issue up with Terra Luna founder Kwon Do-Hyung (Do Kwon) just ahead of the launch in April 2019.
“Just before the release, I suggested to CEO Kwon Do-Hyung that the interest rate should be lowered, but it was not accepted."

The dramatic fall of Terra (LUNA) and the algorithmic stablecoin UST has led to plans by the South Korean government to launch a new Digital Asset Committee in June, to serve as a watchdog over the country’s crypto industry responsible for policy preparation and supervision.
Do Kwon has been summoned to attend a parliamentary hearing on the matter in South Korea in mid-May.
He has also found himself in hot water after court documents revealed he dissolved Terraform Labs Korea just days before the LUNA crash.
In May, South Korean authorities also reportedly issuing subpoenas to employees of Terraform Labs, looking into whether there was intentional price manipulation and whether the tokens went through proper listing procedures.
Despite this, the Terra co-founder has managed to relaunch the collapsed network on May 28 with a new chain called Terra 2.0 (Pheonix-1), aimed at reviving the fallen Terra (LUNA) and TerraUSD (UST).

Do Kwon Accused of Cashing out $2.7B Before UST Collapse, Terra Founder Says Allegations Are False

Terra’s new LUNA 2.0 token has lost 54% in value in the last two weeks, after reaching $11.33 per unit on May 30. Meanwhile, the whistleblower Fatman has accused Terra’s co-founder Do Kwon of cashing out $2.7 billion a few months before the UST de-pegging incident. Kwon, however, has been keeping tabs on Fatman’s accusations and he claims the allegations are “categorically false.”

LUNA 2.0 Token Drops 54% in Value During the Last 2 Weeks
The LUNA 2.0 rebirth token has been extremely lackluster in terms of market performance during the past two weeks. However, as Bitcoin.com News reported six days ago, a myriad of decentralized finance (defi) protocols have re-joined the ecosystem.

Terra’s 2.0 chain has roughly $1.32 billion locked in the Stader defi application according to defillama.com stats. The Terra Classic chain still has $10.54 million total value locked in defi today as well, with $3.11 million held on Terraswap and $2.47 million locked into Anchor.
