    Goldman Sachs identifies three positive catalysts for TSMC
    1. Significant yield improvements at downstream assembly or ODM manufacturers, reducing the likelihood of substantial cuts to AI-related orders.
    2. Projected continuous revenue growth in US dollar terms of 26.3% and 14.1% for this year and next year, respectively, driven primarily by 3nm and 2nm processes. Processes below 7nm are expected to rise from 68% last year to 79.3% next year.
    3. Development challenges for Samsung and Intel in advanced process nodes provide TSMC favorable conditions to raise prices for CoWoS and advanced processes by approximately 3%–5% next year. Gross margins for this year and next year are forecasted to remain strong at 56.8% and 54.7%, respectively, in line with the long-term profitability target above 53%.

    Begin juni, TSMC-voorzitter C.C. Wei bevestigde dat de vraag naar chips die worden gebruikt in humanoïde robots snel groeit. Volgens het Economic Daily News projecteert TSMC dat er tegen 2030 1,3 miljard AI-robots zullen worden ingezet, waardoor een markt ter waarde van $ 35 miljard ontstaat. Dit aantal zal naar verwachting stijgen tot 4 miljard in 2050, waaronder 650 miljoen humanoïde robots, voegt het rapport eraan toe.

    Volgens Commercial Times onthullen bronnen in de toeleveringsketen dat NVIDIA's Jetson Thor-chip - die de Blackwell-architectuur bevat en tot 300 TOPS AI-vermogen levert - waarschijnlijk is gebouwd op het 4nm-proces van TSMC. Op de GTC-conferentie kondigde NVIDIA aan dat Jetson Thor, centraal in het groeiende humanoïde robotecosysteem, in juni 2025 zal worden gelanceerd.

    TSMC boekt minder omzet in juni

    Dit jaar al omzetstijging van 40 procent.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company heeft in juni flink minder omzet geboekt dan een maand eerder. Dit bleek donderdag uit cijfers van de Taiwanese fabrikant van halfgeleiders.

    In juni boekte TSMC een omzet van 263,7 miljard Taiwanese dollar, 17,7 procent minder dan in mei. Op jaarbasis steeg de omzet evenwel met 26,9 procent.

    In de eerste zes maanden van dit jaar steeg de omzet van TSMC met 40,0 procent ten opzichte van dezelfde periode in 2024, naar een totaal van bijna 1,8 biljoen Taiwanese dollar.

    TSMC is een belangrijke afnemer van de Nederlandse chipmachinefabrikant ASML.
