ROTTERDAM (AFN) - Tankopslagbedrijf Vopak gaat een nieuwe industriële terminal bouwen in het Texaanse Corpus Christi aan de Amerikaanse golfkust. Het bedrijf is daarvoor geselecteerd door Gulf Coast Growth Ventures, een samenwerkingsverband van het Amerikaanse olieconcern ExxonMobil en het Saudische petrochemische bedrijf Sabic.
Vopak maakte geen financiële details bekend. De terminal krijgt een totale capaciteit van 130.000 kubieke meter en zal toegewijd worden aan een geplande ethyleenkrakerfabriek van 1,8 miljoen ton per jaar. Via de terminal worden alle vloeibare stoffen verwerkt die worden aangevoerd door schepen. Het is de bedoeling dat de terminal in 2022 begint met zijn werkzaamheden.
Topman Eelco Hoekstra zegt dat de nieuwe terminal past binnen de groeistrategie van Vopak. De investering in Corpus Christi is afgedekt met een overeenkomst voor de langere termijn, aldus het bedrijf.
