AMSTERDAM (AFN) - Het Duitse biotechnologiebedrijf Curetis heeft in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar een nettoverlies van 4,4 miljoen euro geboekt, tegen een min van 3,2 miljoen euro een jaar eerder. Dat meldde het aan de beurs in Amsterdam genoteerde bedrijf woensdag.
De opbrengsten voor Curetis kwamen uit op ruim 347.000 euro, tegen bijna 133.000 euro een jaar eerder. De uitgaven bedroegen 4,7 miljoen euro, van 3,3 miljoen euro vorig jaar. Dat had onder meer te maken met gestegen distributiekosten.
Curetis had aan het einde van het kwartaal een kaspositie van 19,3 miljoen euro, tegen 22,8 miljoen euro aan het einde van 2016. De zogenoemde cashburn was in de verslagperiode 3,5 miljoen euro.
Het bedrijf maakt bloedtestsystemen (Unyvero) waarmee levensbedreigende infectieziekten sneller kunnen worden opgespoord, en waarmee kan worden vastgesteld of sprake is van resistentie tegen antibiotica. Daarmee kunnen artsen snel een goed behandelplan opstellen voor ernstig zieke patiënten.
Volgens Curetis heeft de Amerikaanse toezichthouder FDA om extra informatie gevraagd voor de goedkeuring van Unyvero. Dat gaat mogelijk enkele maanden duren, maar het bedrijf rekent nog steeds op groen licht in de tweede helft van dit jaar.
