HANNOVER (AFN) - De Duitse toeleverancier aan de auto-industrie Continental verwacht dat autoproducenten dit jaar steeds beter gaan draaien. De toonaangevende producent van autobanden en andere onderdelen verhoogde daarom vrijdag zijn verwachting voor de winstmarge die dit jaar kan worden gerealiseerd.

Continental verkocht in de eerste drie maanden van dit jaar ,,aanzienlijk'' meer banden en andere producten dan een jaar eerder. De bandendivisie wist de omzet daardoor met 5 procent te verhogen, gecorrigeerd voor wisselkoerseffecten. De onderdelendivisie (Automotive) realiseerde een plus van 3 procent.Dat onderdeel krijgt de komende tijd echter vaart, voorspelde Continental.

The TomTom Golfer was a device we wanted to like more than we did. The TomTom brand is known for its accurate navigation technology and the Golfer watch delivered on that front. DRONTEN - De politie in Dronten is vanmorgen in actie gekomen omdat er een "verdacht Pools voertuig" zou rondrijden met een hoge installatie op het dak. Het bleek een auto van het Nederlandse bedrijf TomTom te zijn en er was niets aan de hand.
Op De Noord heeft de politie de auto gecontroleerd. ,,De Poolse bestuurder heeft ons een uitgebreide en interessante uitleg gegeven over de diverse meet- en camerasystemen in en op het voertuig'', aldus de politie op Facebook,, Alles bleek in orde.''

Snelle datalevering is cruciaal voor goede verkeersinformatie en het succes van toekomstige ontwikkelingen zoals connected en coöperatief rijden. NDW biedt daarom sinds kort aan afnemers de optie van een nog snellere datalevering. Bij deze zogenaamde directe levering worden actuele verkeersgegevens in kleine datapakketjes direct naar de afnemers doorgestuurd. De kleine pakketjes hebben een doorlooptijd van ongeveer 0,2 seconde.

Actuele verkeersgegevens geven een beeld van de actuele verkeerssituatie op de weg. Het is een constante stroom van minuutgegevens over het aantal voertuigen (vaak onderverdeeld in voertuigcategorieën) dat één van de meetpunten passeert, de gemiddelde snelheid waarmee dat gebeurt en/of de gemiddelde reistijd die op trajecten gemeten wordt. Bij de normale datadoorgifte worden al deze minuutgegevens verzameld en als één pakket op seconde 42 na de meetminuut doorgegeven aan de afnemers. Bij de directe levering wordt er niet meer gewacht op dit vaste publicatiemoment, maar worden de data direct na ontvangst doorgestuurd. Deze kleine datapakketjes, bijvoorbeeld van één regio of één toeleverancier, worden dus niet samengevoegd met de andere datapakketjes.
