BAM Construct UK has cemented its position as one of the UK's leading firms for Building Information Modelling (BIM) thanks to a new accreditation.
The has received its official certification of the Kitemark standard from the chartered business company the British Standards Institute (BSI).
BSI's ISO 19650-1:2018 and ISO 19650-2:2018 are the new international standards for managing information using building information modelling (BIM). They are the first of the ISO 19650 series and supersede BS 1192 (principles) and PAS 1192-2 (capital/delivery phase).
The standards apply to those involved in the procurement, design, construction and/or commissioning of built assets; and those involved in delivering asset management activities, including operations and maintenance.
BAM has become one of the first firms in the UK to receive this accreditation. This comes on the back of the company being the first tier one contractor to achieve the initial BIM certification (PAS1192-2:2013).

Andy Butterfield, Managing Director of Built Environment at BSI said: "Back in 2016, BAM was among the first organizations in the UK to achieve BSI BIM verification certification.
"It's a real achievement for this certification to have been upgraded to the BSI Kitemark for BIM to reflect ISO 19650 parts 1 and 2. These international standards, alongside training, are providing forward-thinking organisations like BAM with the tools to help future-proof their business. We're proud to continue our partnership with BAM, supporting it to demonstrate best practice with implementing digital transformation."
BAM's Andrew Pryke, Director of BAM Design and Head of Digital, commented: "As a business that works in a range of built environment disciplines -development, design, construction, facilities management and engineering - we have a lot to gain from the seamless co-ordination and integration of these, not just internally, but with our clients, their partners, and our supply chain.
"That is why it is important to us that clients can see we not only talk about digital construction and our collaborative ethos, but that there is independent evidence to back up what we say and the processes behind how we work.
"Digital transformation is no longer just coming, it is happening wave by wave. This is the latest wave, and as this certification shows, BAM is at the top of the learning curve. That's where we intend to stay."
To achieve the BSI Kitemark to reflect BS EN ISO 19650-2, BAM went through an onsite audit by BSI experts to assess its delivery of projects to contract requirements, measurement and monitoring of client satisfaction against projects, and the management of its supply chain against the ISO requirements.
