Oracle Power’s 400MW Hydrogen Plant in Pakistan on Track

Oracle Power has received a letter from a Pakistani Government of Sindh confirming it would issue a Letter of Intent for Oracle Energy’s 1,200MW hybrid solar, wind & green hydrogen power project. Oracle said “The anticipated LOI from the Directorate of Alternative Energy of the Government of Sindh is expected to approve the production of green hydrogen at its project, planned to be located in Jhimpir, Gharo or Keti Bandar in Pakistan.”

The project in discussion was unveiled in October 2021 plans to establish 400MW of electrolysis capacity, which could see production of 150,000kg of green hydrogen per day.

Oracle Energy is a joint venture 70%-owned by prominent member of Dubai’s royal family Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum and London-based Oracle Power.

GKN Aerospace Leads H2GEAR for Hydrogen Planes

GKN Aerospace will lead a ground-breaking UK collaboration programme, called H2GEAR, to develop the company’s first hydrogen propulsion system for sub-regional aircraft. Hydrogen is expected to play a key role in the decarbonisation strategy of aviation as it can power aircraft efficiently, leaving water as the only by-product. H2GEAR puts GKN Aerospace at the heart of the technology developments needed for the future of more sustainable aviation.

The technologies will first focus on significantly improving sub-regional aircraft hydrogen powered performance, in turn enabling applications on larger aircraft and longer journeys. The programme is supported by GBP 27 million of ATI funding, matched by GKN Aerospace and its industrial partners.

H2GEAR aims to develop a liquid hydrogen propulsion system for sub-regional aircraft that could be scaled up to larger aircraft. Liquid hydrogen is being converted to electricity within a fuel cell system. This electricity efficiently powers the aircraft, eliminating CO2 emissions. This would create a new generation of clean air travel, eliminating harmful CO2 emissions.

H2GEAR will reinforce the UK’s position at the forefront of aerospace technology research and development. GKN Aerospace will collaborate with Intelligent Energy, Aeristech, Newcastle University, The University of Manchester and University of Birmingham, throughout the programme, aiming to create more than 3,000 jobs in the next decade. The programme will be delivered from GKN Aerospace’s Global Technology Centre in Bristol, the company’s GBP 32 millio brand-new collaborative space for research and development.

Hygenco Signs Green Hydrogen Agreement with Jindal Stainless

India’s stainless steel giant Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Ltd has partnered with Hygenco India to install a Green Hydrogen Plant. This Green Hydrogen Plant will enable the Company to considerably reduce its CO2 emissions by nearly 2700 tonnes per annum. The first of its kind off-take agreement in India will see Hygenco Build-Own-Operate the Green Hydrogen facility for 20 years. It will also become the first multi-megawatt scale plant with long-term offtake in Asia to be commissioned in the next 12 months.

The state-of-the-art and fully autonomous plant will be controlled by an advanced Energy Management and Control System. The system monitors several parameters including hydrogen generation, renewable energy generation, states of charge, pressure, temperature and makes autonomous real-time decisions for achieving high efficiency. The technology enables the company to augment the hydrogen yield and deliver cost-competitive hydrogen to the end clients.

Headquartered in India, Hygenco is a global pioneer deploying Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia-powered industry solutions. Hygenco develops and deploys scaled-up commercially attractive Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia assets. Hygenco has deep capabilities in designing, building, and operating Green Hydrogen projects.

Charbone Hydrogen to Sell Resato Hydrogen Stations in Canada

Brossard Quebec based CHARBONE HYDROGEN has entered into a non-binding Term Sheet with Resato Hydrogen Technology for the exclusive sales, marketing, distribution and servicing of Resato’s Hydrogen Refueling Stations technologies for the Canadian market. Charbone System will be initially importing the HRS from Europe and would have an option to extend the agreement to acquire the rights to manufacture and assemble the HRS locally in Canada under Resato trademark.

Charbone will dedicate resources towards a professional marketing and sales team for the Canadian market, and create partnership with local companies for the operation, maintenance, and services of the HRS. Resato will train and supervise Charbone Systems teams. Charbone will be responsible for the engineering and the adaptation to the Canadian, provincials’ and other stakeholders codes and regulations on behalf of Resato. Completion of the transaction, as specified in the nonbinding TS, is subject to further negotiation and execution of a definitive agreement.

Resato Hydrogen Technology is a Dutch technology leader that supports the development of the hydrogen economy with their Hydrogen Refueling Stations.

Cellula Demonstrates Hydrogen AUV

Burnaby BC based Canadian Cellula Robotics has announced the successful completion of various demonstration missions using the hydrogen fuel cell powered autonomous underwater vehicle Solus-LR. The missions, executed in Vancouver's Indian Arm inlet on July 15th, demonstrated the remarkable autonomous launch of a micro-AUV from Solus-LR while submerged and underway. Following the launch, the micro-AUV surfaced and transmitted a status message to Solus-LR's command and control center via Iridium satellite. The operation was the first of its kind and demonstrated near real-time, over-the-horizon communications from a submerged AUV.

Built on a research and development project originally sponsored by Defence Research Development Canada under the All Domain Situational Awareness Science and Technology Program that developed Solus-LR, the mission re-enforced the capabilities and potential of a long-range, hydrogen fuel cell powered AUV designed for submerged missions in excess of 2,000 km.

NYK Tokyo Container Terminal Using Hydrogen Cranes

NYK Line and UNI-X NCT Corporation have begun operation of four state-of-the-art transfer cranes developed by Mitsui E & S Machinery. The four cranes are based at the NYK Tokyo Container Terminal and each comes equipped with a downsized diesel engine that reduces carbon dioxide emissions and diesel exhaust and can be replaced with a hydrogen fuel cell power supply in the future.

Height: 25.0 meters

Width: 25.82 meters

Rated load: 40.6 tonnes

In July 2021, NYK Line and UNI-X set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 by converting all cargo handling equipment at the NYK Tokyo Container Terminal to zero-emission equipment. The introduction of these state-of-the-art transfer cranes is part of this goal.

Essar Stanlow Gets First Hydrogen Furnace

Essar Oil UK’s Cheshire oil refinery has taken delivery of the first hydrogen-powered furnace at a refinery anywhere in the UK. The principal component of the furnace 18.5 metres tall, 26.5 metres long and 14.2 metres wide started 6,000-mile journey began in May in Thailand and arrived at Liverpool Port, before being transported by barge down the Manchester Ship Canal.

The furnace is the first of its kind in the UK, capable of running on a 100% hydrogen source and will replace three existing furnaces at Stanlow.

Hydrogen used by the new furnace from 2026 will be produced by Vertex Hydrogen, a joint venture launched in January between Essar and Progressive Energy, located on-site at Stanlow and part of the HyNet North West low carbon cluster. Once fully operational in 2023, it will improve energy efficiency at Stanlow compared with existing furnaces, helping to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 240,000 tonnes each year from 2026, while simultaneously reducing maintenance costs.

SoCalGas Joins Ford for F-550 Super Duty Hydrogen Truck

Southern California Gas is working with Ford Motors on a demonstration project to reduce commercial fleet emissions by developing a F-550 Super Duty Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Truck. This collaboration is part of the US Department of Energy's SuperTruck 3 program, which aims to significantly reduce emissions in medium and heavy-duty trucks. The utility's participation is another step toward its ASPIRE 2045 sustainability goals by working to replace 50% of its over-the-road fleet with clean fuel vehicles by 2025 and operate a 100% zero-emission fleet by 2035.

Ford will provide SoCalGas with a F-550 Super Duty Truck to evaluate the prototype truck's performance under real-world conditions. SoCalGas was chosen to evaluate how the truck can meet the rigorous demands of utility work and because of its climate and geographical location. The demonstration project will also include a temporary hydrogen refueling station at SoCalGas' Bakersfield facility. The truck is expected to deploy in 2025.

This project represents a unique opportunity to decarbonize large fleets like utilities that require long ranges, fast refueling, onboard power needs, and 24/7 emergency response.

Hydrogen Facility Proposed for Port of Belledune

The Belledune Port Authority has reached an agreement in principle with Cross River Infrastructure Partners to develop green hydrogen production facility at the northern New Brunswick port that will help meet provincial, federal and global goals of a transition to a clean energy future. This development agreement will support the Port of Belledune’s efforts to diversify its business and develop new industries fueled by renewable energy.

The Belledune-based project would use 200MW of clean firm power to produce green ammonia fuel for export. Planned expansions would create the capacity to serve both local and global energy needs.

Pending the outcome of feasibility studies, environmental assessments, due diligence and permitting, the hydrogen production facility could come online by 2027.

McDermott Bags Pre FEED Contract for Proposed H2Perth Project

McDermott International has been awarded a Pre Front-End Engineering Design contract from Woodside Energy for the proposed H2Perth project located in the Kwinana/Rockingham area in Western Australia. Under the contract scope McDermott will provide pre-FEED services for a proposed export-scale production facility for renewable and lower-carbon hydrogen and ammonia. Hydrogen will be produced using electrolysis technologies and natural gas reforming with carbon emissions abated or offset.

Work on the project will be executed from McDermott's office in Perth, Australia, and its engineering centre of excellence in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Nochtans staat de koers al dagen stil, op de Duitse beurs gebeurt er niks meer. Een mail naar Powertap wordt niet op gereageerd!
Blijf het heel vreemd vinden.
