Benieuwd XPENG het Tesla concept volgt, of dat het nog veel verder gaat dan dat ….. ik blijf er bij dat het in slechte weersomstandigheden noodzakelijk is dat de software de exacte locatie weet op de weg….. en dat daar HD-Maps voor nodig zijn …..

Is the car industry going cold on full self-driving tech?

Ford abandons public testing of level-four-capable autonomous vehicles due to their “near-term” unprofitability.

The letter said: “As evidenced by the shutdown of our ADS partner Argo AI, we believe the road to fully autonomous vehicles, at scale, with a profitable business model, will be a long one.”

Ford will instead concentrate its resources on “nearer-term” level two-plus and level three technologies – which do not require a legal exemption to test on public roads in the US.

The news comes after Horiba Mira managing director Declan Allen exclusively told Automotive Daily network partner Autocar that the large projects developing fully autonomous vehicles will “probably get kicked down the road a bit”.

Allen added: “There’s quite a large development on the driver assistance systems and moving to level two-plus and level three systems.”

Logisch dat Ford en andere OEM’s hiervoor kiezen en zich voorlopig focussen op L2+ en hooguit L3, dat legt wel een soort van bommetje onder het belang van HD-Maps …. Dat zag TT al aankomen, vandaar dat de HD Map ontwikkeling is gestaakt en TT het over een andere boeg gooit met Overture en eigen Digital Cockpit (Indigo). Het is nu zaak een zo groot mogelijk marktaandeel te krijgen en klanten van HERE te scoren, dat zal nog lastig worden. Als de TT - VW/Cariad deal doorgaat en een succes wordt dan kot het met het marktaandeel wel goed op termijn. Maar ik heb geen zin om daar op te wachten.

Vanaf level 2+ heeft HD maps de voorkeur boven ADAS maps en ik heb tomtom niet horen zeggen dat ze met HD maps zijn gestaakt

Een leuk bericht van Driver en TomTom, maar persoonlijk denk ik niet dat dat de reden van de stijging is.
Ik denk dat we eind volgende week meer zullen weten….

heeft er een kleine verschuiving plaats gevonden in de afgelopen week.
Een toename van 144.564 aandelen is gemeld door één of meerdere grootinvesteerders.

De stand is nu:

*Teslin staat sinds 14 juni 2022 nog steeds op 5,18%
Maar dat zegt niet zoveel omdat pas bij 10% weer gemeld moet worden.

Tesla has shifted its engineering focus to developing the next-generation EV platform, enabling cheaper electric cars. Musk believes that Tesla’s next-gen vehicle platform will produce electric cars for half the cost, labor, and factory space required to have a Model 3, which currently starts at $47,000. The new platform aims to produce more volume than “all of Tesla’s other vehicles combined.”
