Tornier to Acquire DVO Extremity Solutions; Also Confirms Closing of Acquisition of Nexa Orthopedics
By Elizabeth Hofheinz, MEd, MPH March 7, 2007
Could this company grow any faster? Tornier, which only recently announced the acquisition of Nexa Orthopedics, is now announcing that it will acquire DVO Extremity Solutions (DVO), a Warsaw, Indiana-based entity. Tornier is confirming the closing of the previously announced acquisition of the extremities company, Nexa Orthopedics, that was pending regulatory clearances. Now they will add the products from DVO’s line of upper extremity solutions.
A relatively new company, DVO was founded in 2004 with the mission to focus on the product and technology needs of its orthopedic surgeon customers and their patients. Working with surgeons and researchers, DVO is developing a portfolio of products for upper extremity applications and in 2005 and 2006 launched a series of distal radius fracture repair systems.
In the news release, Doug Kohrs, president and CEO of Tornier, commented, “We are very excited to welcome the DVO team and its products to the Tornier family. This acquisition, along with the recently closed acquisition of Nexa Orthopedics, confirms Tornier’s commitment to both market and technologic leadership in the dynamic and underserved extremities marketplace."
Rod Mayer, president and CEO of DVO Extremity Solutions added, “Tornier is in the process of establishing a franchise in the orthopedic industry that is truly unique, based on both its commitment to innovation and its approach to the market. We look forward to DVO’s opportunity to contribute to that process.”
