Het liefst 100, maar het zal wel 12 worden.
Nogmaals waarom heb jij de gedachte dat Tom2 op termijn niet minder opbrengt dan 12 euro

ES, Las Vegas, 8 January 2018 TomTom (TOM2), today announced that it is extending its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, to demonstrate new localisation technologies for autonomous driving. Specifically, fusing the TomTom HD (high definition) Map, with camera technologies and GPS data from the Qualcomm® Drive Data Platform, to power highly precise and reliable localisation for connected car applications and autonomous vehicles.

A demonstration can be viewed at Qualcomm Technologies’ automotive booth in the Las Vegas Convention Centre, North Hall, booth #5616.

The TomTom HD Map is a digital map product aimed at making automated vehicles safer and more comfortable by complementing sensors, powering accurate localisation and enabling path planning. TomTom’s HD Map already covers the USA, Western Europe and Japan with over 380,000 km of highways and interstates mapped.

The Qualcomm Drive Data Platform offers cutting-edge technology to intelligently collect and analyse vehicle sensor data to facilitate vehicles that can determine location, learn driving patterns, perceive its surroundings, while sharing this information with the rest of the world accurately. It features Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) solutions from Qualcomm Technologies and is coupled with sensor integration and Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) techniques to achieve sub-metre global accuracy.

Willem Strijbosch, TomTom’s Head of Autonomous Driving, said: “Accurately locating a vehicle on the road is one of the key challenges for autonomous driving, which is why we’re building localisation content into the TomTom HD Map, for a safe and comfortable passenger experience. We’re excited to explore the map fusion capabilities of the Qualcomm Drive Data Platform to power even more accurate localisation for autonomous driving.”

This new demonstration is an extension of the ongoing relationship between Qualcomm Technologies and TomTom, who introduced the initial demonstration of a cost-effective method of crowd-sourcing of HD map features earlier this year.

The TomTom booth can be found at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, North Hall, Booth #5226, where TomTom will be demonstrating its technologies for autonomous driving, as well as its core technologies in mapping, navigation and traffic.

CES, Las Vegas, 8 January 2018 TomTom (TOM2) and Baidu, Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU) today announced an extension to their collaboration on high definition (HD) maps for autonomous driving.

TomTom's HD Map and TomTom AutoStream, which was announced today at CES, will be pre-integrated into Baidu’s open autonomous driving platform, Apollo, enabling developers to access the latest TomTom HD Map data, to accelerate the production of autonomous driving products.

TomTom AutoStream is an innovative map delivery service for autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems. It enables vehicles to build a horizon for the road ahead by streaming the latest map data from the TomTom cloud. By ensuring that the map used to power advanced driving functions is always the latest, TomTom AutoStream enhances driver comfort and safety.

TomTom’s HD Map is a revolutionary digital map product aimed at making automated vehicles safer and more comfortable by complementing sensors, powering accurate localization and enabling path planning. TomTom’s HD Map already covers the USA, Western Europe and Japan with over 380,000 km of highways and interstates mapped. With leading coverage of HD Maps and advanced mapmaking technologies, TomTom is helping realise the autonomous driving vision.

Harold Goddijn, CEO, TomTom, said: "I have no hesitation in saying that TomTom's HD Map, and technologies for autonomous driving, will be critical to the vehicles of the future. Working with Baidu, who share our vision, and determination, to accelerate the future of driving - is another step towards this future."

Weihao Gu, GM of Intelligent Vehicle Division, Baidu, said: “Map data is essential to the development of autonomous vehicles. The globally unified HD map service we have created with TomTom makes it easier for OEMs and technology companies to engineer and test systems, and the extension of TomTom AutoStream enhances this by giving Apollo partners timely access to the latest map data. This strengthens our Apollo autonomous driving platform even further and will help the industry as a whole to accelerate progress.”

Baidu is the leading Chinese language Internet search provider, and a major mapping service provider in China. Leveraging its resource and capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), the company has been developing HD maps since 2013, using smart technologies such as deep learning to help automate data processing and map creation. First announced in April 2017, Apollo is Baidu’s open autonomous driving platform, which provides a comprehensive, secure, and reliable all-in-one solution supporting all major features and functions of an autonomous vehicle. Apollo aims to build a collaborative ecosystem for companies to work together and to promote the development and spread of autonomous driving technology.

By pre-integrating the TomTom HD Map and TomTom AutoStream into Baidu’s Apollo platform, TomTom and Baidu are setting a worldwide standard for HD Maps.

The TomTom booth can be found at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, North Hall, Booth #5226, where TomTom will be demonstrating its technologies for autonomous driving, as well as its core technologies – mapping, navigation and traffic services.

CES Las Vegas, 8 January 2018 At CES 2018, TomTom (TOM2), is presenting a new concept for passengers travelling in autonomous vehicles. It’s called TomTom MotionQ – a set of visual clues that enable passengers to anticipate an autonomous vehicle’s motion, leading to a more comfortable experience.

TomTom MotionQ has been revealed as part of the Rinspeed Snap robotaxi concept vehicle, shown for the first time at CES.

A critical challenge when designing an autonomous vehicle is to make passengers feel safe and comfortable. Passengers should feel confident that the vehicle is aware of its surroundings and that it will handle all aspects safely. In terms of comfort, passengers must be able to anticipate the motion of the vehicle to avoid motion sickness.

TomTom MotionQ provides intuitive overlays on the central display, communicating the vehicle’s intended motion. This includes turns and acceleration, as well as elements of the TomTom HD (high definition) Map such as road borders, lane markings, and road geometry.

Another important consideration for shared autonomous vehicles is that passengers must be able to monitor their route, check their ETA and explore points of interest (POIs). TomTom Route Genius does just that, informing passengers of all the aspects of their journey, from accurate ETA information, to relevant POIs along the route.

Willem Strijbosch, TomTom’s Head of Autonomous Driving, said: “The future of mobility relies on a mix of high-definition maps, real-time maps, advanced navigation software, and live data from vehicle sensors. This technology mix is designed with passenger safety in mind. However, passenger comfort is another key element of the equation. That’s why we developed the TomTom MotionQ concept – passengers can now feel safe and comfortable while in autonomous vehicles – especially avoiding motion sickness when they might not be facing the direction of travel. We’re excited to demonstrate our new concept in the Rinspeed Snap.”

The Rinspeed Snap can be seen at the Harman showcase at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas at CES 2018.

The TomTom booth can be found at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, North Hall, Booth #5226, where TomTom will be demonstrating its technologies for autonomous driving, as well as its core technologies – mapping, navigation and traffic services.
