Soldiers of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade have destroyed a Russian infantry fighting vehicle.

According to Ukrinform, the brigade reported this on its Facebook page.

"Assault fighters of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade have destroyed a Russian infantry fighting vehicle with an accurate shot," the statement said.

The armored vehicle left the forest and went straight across the sown field to the dirt road. However, it was immediately spotted by Ukrainian soldiers.

According to the brigade, the IFV tried to maneuver for some time, as can be seen from the tracks. However, the maneuvers did not last long as a few seconds later, the armored vehicle was destroyed with an accurate shot from an anti-tank missile system.

The entire crew was killed, the statement said.

Earlier, it was reported that in the last five days, fighters of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade had destroyed two Russian T-72 tanks, an armored personnel carrier and an infantry fighting vehicle.

Foreign investors are ditching China. Russia's war is the latest trigger

Investors are ditching China on an unprecedented scale as a cocktail of political and business risks, and rising interest rates elsewhere, make the world's second biggest economy a less attractive place to keep their money.
China witnessed $17.5 billion worth of portfolio outflows last month, an all-time high, according to most recent data from the Institute of International Finance (IIF). The US-based trade association called this capital flight by overseas investors "unprecedented," especially as there were no similar outflows from other emerging markets during this period. The outflows included $11.2 billion in bonds, while the rest were equities.
Data from the Chinese government also showed a record bond-market retreat by foreign investors in recent months. Overseas investors offloaded a net 35 billion yuan ($5.5 billion) of Chinese government bonds in February, the largest monthly reduction on record, according to China Central Depository and Clearing. The sell-off accelerated in March, hitting a new high of 52 billion yuan ($8.1 billion).

"China's support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine was clearly the catalyst for capital to leave China," said George Magnus, an associate at the China Centre at Oxford University and former chief economist for UBS.

China and Russia proclaimed in February that their friendship had "no limits." That was before Russia invaded Ukraine. Now, with Russia's economy being slammed with sanctions from all over the world, Beijing has not rushed to help out its northern neighbor, fearing that it too could get caught up in sanctions. But it has also refused to condemn Russia's attack on Ukraine, seeking to portray itself as a neutral actor and blaming the situation on the United States.
"There is nervousness about China's ambiguous, but Russia-leaning stance on the Ukraine conflict, which raises worries that China could be targeted by sanctions if it helps Russia," said Martin Chorzempa, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, who has studied China's economy and US-China relations.

The war in Ukraine has also heightened concerns about the risk that China could increase its military force against Taiwan, triggering a massive flight of capital from the Asian island.
But geopolitical tension is not the only reason behind the exodus. The rate hike in the United States and China's strict Covid-related lockdowns have also played a role in scaring investors.

The Finnish daily Iltalehti said on Monday that Stockholm had “suggested the two countries indicate their willingness to join” on the same day, and that Helsinki had agreed “as long as the Swedish government has made its decision”.

The Swedish newspaper Expressen cited government sources as confirming the report. The two countries’ prime ministers said this month they were deliberating the question, arguing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had changed Europe’s “whole security landscape” and “dramatically shaped mindsets” in the Nordic region.

Finland’s prime minister, Sanna Marin, said then that her country, which shares a 1,300km (810 mile) border with Russia, would decide whether to apply to join the alliance “quite fast, in weeks not months”, despite the risk of infuriating Moscow.

Her Swedish counterpart, Magdalena Andersson, said Sweden had to be “prepared for all kinds of actions from Russia” and that “everything had changed” when Moscow attacked Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly warned both countries against the move.

Britse regering schat Russische verliezen op voorlopig 15.000 soldaten
De Britse regering gaat ervan uit dat sinds het begin van de oorlog tegen Oekraïne zo'n 15.000 Russische soldaten gedood zijn. Minister van Defensie Ben Wallace noemde dat cijfer maandag in het parlement in Londen. Er is ook verlies aan militair materieel. Volgens Wallace tonen meerdere bronnen aan dat er tot nog toe meer dan 2.000 pantservoertuigen vernield of buitgemaakt zijn. Bovendien heeft Moskou meer dan 60 helikopters en gevechtsvliegtuigen verloren.

De cijfers van Londen liggen lager dan de schatting van de Oekraïners. Kiev spreekt over 22.000 gedode Russische militairen. Volgens Wallace heeft Rusland tot nog toe "bij bijna elk van zijn doelstellingen gefaald". Bij het begin van de oorlog zette Moskou zo'n 65 procent van al zijn grondtroepen in, aldus de minister. "Momenteel gaan we ervan uit dat ongeveer een kwart van hen niet meer bereid is om te vechten."

Waarom treinen in Oekraïne tot nog toe zijn blijven rijden ondanks de oorlog (en dat nu wel eens kan veranderen)
Rusland heeft zeker vijf knooppunten voor het spoorwegnet in Oekraïne gebombardeerd. Moskou wil zo verhinderen dat troepen en materieel naar het oosten worden verplaatst. Anderzijds lijkt de explosie van een brandstofdepot in Rusland zelf dan weer een poging van Oekraïne om de Russische troepen in het land met een lege tank te zetten.

annacht hebben Russische vliegtuigen vijf treinstations in het westen en het centrum van Oekraïne gebombardeerd. Daarmee lijkt Moskou vooral transportknooppunten in Oekraïne te willen ontregelen. Tot nu toe was dat veel minder het geval en bleven de meeste treinen rijden ondanks de oorlog.

In "De wereld vandaag" op Radio 1 ziet kolonel op rust en defensiespecialist Roger Housen een eenvoudige verklaring. Tot voort kort waren er weinig Oekraïense troepenbewegingen in het land en waren het vooral vluchtelingen die gebruik maakten van treinen om vanuit het oosten naar het westen van het land te vluchten.

Dat is nu anders: Housen merkt op dat nu vooral Oekraïense troepen worden overgebracht naar de Donbas-regio in het oosten waar de Russen willen aanvallen. Tegelijk wordt ook westers militair materieel op veel grotere schaal dan voorheen naar het front gebracht. Het is geen toeval dat de Russen daarom nu het spoornetwerk viseren.
Een storende factor daarbij is de stoet westerse leiders en politici die per trein naar de Oekraïense hoofdstad Kiev reizen, zoals onlangs EU-Commissieovoorzitter Ursula von der Leyen en gisteren de VS-ministers van Buitenlandse Zaken Antony Blinken en diens collega van Defensie Lloyd Austin. Volgens kolonel Housen wordt er daarbij telkens contact gelegd tussen het Westen en Rusland om te vermijden dat die treinen per ongeluk geraakt zouden worden en er dus een escalatie ontstaat.
Zaporodzje en Marioepol als strijdtoneel
Wat het front zelf betreft, wijst Housen op het belang van de steden Zaporezje en Marioepol. Zaporozje is voor de Russen van belang als ze willen doorstoten van zuid naar noord en voor de Oekraïeners is die stad belangrijk omdat de bruggen over de kilometers brede rivier Dnjepr nodig zijn om versterkingen naar de Donbasregio in het oosten te brengen. Tegelijk ligt hier de grootste stroomcentrale van Oekraïne die deels instaat voor de elektrische voorzieningen in het land.
Dat de slag om de staalfabriek van Azovstal in de omsingelde havenstad Marioepol blijft voortwoeden, doet Housen denken dat de Oekraïense troepen daar ofwel grote voorraden munitie en voedsel hebben aangelegd of dat ze via een ondergronds gangensysteem worden bevoorraad.

Housen merkt ook de explosies op in een groot brandstofdepot in de Russische stad Brijansk, meer dan 150 kilometer van de grens met Oekraïne. Hij vermoedt dat het gaat om een Oekraïense aanval diep in Russisch grondgebied omdat vanuit dat depot de Russische troepen in het oosten van Oekraïne worden bevoorraad. Die hebben dagelijks honderdduizenden liter brandstof nodig en Housen vermoedt dat de Oekraïeners dat willen verhinderen.
