The Mueller investigation has sprouted. Therein lies the jeopardy for Trump.

Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York served a sweeping subpoena on President Trump’s inaugural committee on Monday. Nothing could more clearly illustrate the breadth of the president’s legal exposure and the limits of his nearly two-year strategy to attack and undermine special counsel Robert S. Mueller III — because the special counsel’s work is merely the sturdy root of a veritable Mueller family tree. What began as an FBI counterintelligence investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election has sprouted into multiple investigations in multiple jurisdictions examining multiple possible crimes. The case against the president’s personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen is the direct line, the first child. The investigation of the inaugural committee, which sprang from the Cohen case, is the grandchild. And on it goes.

The president no longer faces jeopardy from just one federal criminal probe, but at least three, and not just one prosecutor’s office, but the full resources of the entire Justice Department. In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, Trump asserted that “ridiculous partisan investigations” threatened the “economic miracle” that was happening on his watch. The threat of the investigations, however you characterize them, is to the president himself.

Prosecutors looking into illegality in one area of the president’s life have discovered evidence of potential crimes in other areas. Mueller’s discovery of wrongdoing by Cohen led to a referral to prosecutors in Manhattan, who secured a guilty plea from Cohen for violating campaign finance laws and alleged in court papers that it was Trump who directed Cohen to break the law. That investigation in turn produced evidence of wrongdoing at the Trump inaugural committee, which has led to an investigation of a Trump donor, a Los Angeles venture capitalist with ties to Qatar.

ik haat trump helemaal niet, ik vind het een incompetente idioot.
Maar haat? Waarom, het gaat vanzelf weer over.
Ik geef alleen aan dat de man een incompente idioot is, en dat hij (en zijn partij) het land ruineren. De hele partij is een asociale groep graaiers, bedriegers en oplichters, imho.

Toekomst visie: trump weg, gop weg, dems in power, all will be well.

Degene die weten waar ze over praten denken er juist heel anders over. Niks is er slechter op geworden sinds Obama weg is. En omdat je dat niet kan weerleggen kom je met allemaal van die onzin artikelen, die niemand wat interesseert. Het gaat beter dan ooit in de US en jij noemt dat ruïneren. De enige groep mensen die misschien geruïneerd worden zijn de uitkeringstrekkers die afhankelijk zijn van de overheid. Dat jij je daarmee associeert zegt alles.

Meanwhile, in Florida:

MADEIRA BEACH, Florida — Commissioner Nancy Oakley is being accused of sexually harassing a former city manager.

The Florida Commission on Ethics issued a report on its findings that Oakley possibly violated state law because she was "exhibiting inappropriate behavior" when she licked the city manager's face at a fishing tournament in 2012.

The report said there was testimony from multiple witnesses saying Oakley also touched the then-city manager inappropriately, and that she was intoxicated.

The city manager didn't report the incident out of fear of losing his job, the Commission on Ethics reports. He filed a formal complaint against Oakley in 2017 when she filed for re-election.

Upon election, she and another commissioner and the newly elected mayor suspended the city manager, who says they knew the ethics complaint against Oakley was pending.

According to the Miami Herald, Oakley resigned to avoid being fired.

Since the issue was brought to light in public, others have said Oakley behaved in a similar manner toward them, according to the Miami Herald. The sponsor of the fishing tournament where Oakley allegedly licked the city manager said she had licked his face and the faces of volunteers at other fishing tournaments.

Paul Erickson, Boyfriend Of Russian Agent Maria Butina, Charged In Fraud Scheme

The Justice Department announced charges on Wednesday against a longtime Republican fundraiser who worked with his Russian girlfriend to try to build back-channel ties between Moscow and Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Paul Erickson, a South Dakota-born booster of the GOP and the National Rifle Association, was a key part of the outreach to Trump's campaign and other conservative political organizations by Maria Butina, who has pleaded guilty to conspiring to act as a clandestine foreign agent.

The indictment unsealed this week didn't appear directly connected with the Russian influence story line. It alleges that Erickson defrauded investors in South Dakota by pitching them health care business opportunities.

Heeft de President en de GOP niet de politieke tegenstanders de grond in geboord met de meest on-parlementaire beschuldigen ?

Zo'n tweet past alleen in een dictatuur, waar iedere vorm van kritiek hardhandig wordt aangepakt.

Is dit President waardig gedrag in een Democratische maatschappij?

Putin houdt een oefening in Venezuela om het denkbeeldige US leger aan te vallen.

Zonder confrontatie met de vijand storten de Russische helikopters al neer.

Attorney General of Department of Justice.

Momenteel is er Acting(tijdelijk) AG of DOJ : Matt Whitaker.

Officieel staat hij boven Rod Rosenstein, die boven Robert Mueller staat.
Echter volgens de wet , had Rod Rosenstein Acting AG moeten worden. Desondnks heeft Trump toch Matt Whitaker aangesteld.

Morgen is er hearing in het Huis van Matt Whitaker. Op het laatste moment probeert hij hier bezwaar tegen te maken. Hij wil alleen komen als men van subpoena afziet.

Waarom tegenstribbelen als je eerlijk bezig bent.

Overigens wordt volgende week de officiële stemming verwacht, in de Senaat, om William Barr aan te stellen als Attorney General van de DOJ.

WASHINGTON (AFN/RTR/BLOOMBERG) - Het is zeer onwaarschijnlijk dat de Amerikaanse president Donald Trump en zijn Chinese ambtgenoot Xi Jinping elkaar ontmoeten voor 1 maart. Dat heeft Trump gezegd na eerdere berichten dat een ontmoeting niet zou lukken. Hij sluit een latere top niet uit. Vorige maand zei Trump nog dat hij eind februari met Xi zou afspreken.

Op 1 maart verloopt een door de twee landen zelfopgelegde periode van negentig dagen waarin vanwege de handelsoorlog ingestelde maatregelen niet golden. Die periode hadden China en de Verenigde Staten ingesteld om tot een handelsdeal te komen. Dat is nog niet gelukt. Volgende week staat een nieuwe onderhandelingsronde in China op het programma.

Het is nog niet duidelijk of de tijdelijk buiten werking gestelde importheffingen na afloop van de deadline weer van kracht worden.

Acting General of DOJ Matt Whitaker.

Is uitgenodigd vrijdag voor een hearing in het Huis. De hoogste baas van US justitie, die er op moet zien dat justice is done. Het is de meest normale zaak dat hij ter verantwoording kan worden geroepen. Iemand in zijn functie hoort er geen probleem mee te hebben , en zou er trots op moeten zijn te komen vertellen dat hij naar eer en geweten zijn werk goed uitvoert.

Toch stelt hij van alles in het werk om voorwaarden te stellen aan de hearing.

Komt niet echt betrouwbaar over . En dat voor de hoogste baas bij Justitie(DOJ).

Nadler(Chair of Judiciary Committee) zag zich derhalve genoodzaakt een last minute brief te sturen om duidelijk te maken dat hij op de hearing dient te verschijnen en antwoord op alle vragen moet stellen.
