Another very rare Russian BMO-T T-72-based APC was destroyed by Ukrainian forces in #Kharkiv Oblast; the 3rd one taken out.

This vehicle is designed to transport rocket flamethrower troops and 32 RPO-A thermobaric launchers. Only around two dozen were ever manufactured.

An ambulance blocked the leading car in Putin's motorcade while another car dropped an explosive on the vehicle carrying Putin, according to a report on Telegram.

Vladimir Putin's motorcade was attacked with explosives during a recent journey, unverified reports from Telegram have claimed. According to the General SVR Telegram channel, purportedly run by a Kremlin insider, one car blocked the front vehicle in Putin's motorcade, whilst another car drove around the motorcade and dropped an explosive on the vehicle carrying the Russian President.

General SVR explained: "On the way to the residence, a few kilometers away, the first escort car was blocked by an ambulance, the second escort car drove around without stopping, a sudden obstacle, and while driving around the obstacle, the third car, in which Putin was, a loud bang sounded from the left front wheel followed by heavy smoke."

The report claims that despite the explosion, the car carrying Putin managed to reach its destination. However, it adds that "the investigation into the incident and all information on it is classified".

Dit gaat meer dan waarschijnlijk over de controle over de gaspijplijn naar de EU. (onder invloed van Rusland zit Armenië daar te stoken, in het vorige decennium heeft Poetin ook in Syrië onrust gestookt, om de aanleg van een gaspijplijn van Qatar naar Europa te verhinderen)

Fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region has escalated. The recent clashes pose a serious security threat to the EU’s oil and gas infrastructures.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have been at war since Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts. The Bishkek Protocol ended the war in 1994 but hostility between Armenia and Azerbaijan has risen significantly in the following years. 12 July 2020 marked the beginning of new military clashes when hostilities in the Tovuz (Azerbaijan) and Tavush (Armenia) segments of the international border turned violent. New military clashes erupted at several locations along the Nagorno-Karabakh line of contact on 27 September 2020. Considering its scale and civilian casualties, these current clashes are the most serious escalation since 1994.

Why does it matter to the EU?
Firstly, because the new clashes happened between two Eastern Partnership (EaP) neighbours. The EaP aims to strengthen stability, security and prosperity in the six eastern neighbours of the EU. If the EaP cannot address conflicts in the South Caucasus, it will have failed in one of its key purposes.

Secondly, the recent clashes pose a security threat to the EU’s oil and gas infrastructures (for example the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor) and its energy companies’ economic interests. More specifically, the new clashes happened next to the European pipeline corridor transporting natural resources from Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea to Europe.

Due to the deadly clashes, the vice-president on investment and marketing at the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Elshad Nassirov, claimed that Armenia’s military provocations were intended to disrupt Azerbaijani plans to begin supplying gas to Europe in three months.

He stressed that “the entire infrastructure for the supply of Azerbaijan’s energy resources to western countries and the global market is located in this region”.[1] In this regard, the July clashes have implications not only for stability in the Caucasus region, but also for Europe and the wider international community.

The Southern Gas Corridor
The Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) is designed as a 3500 kilometre pipeline from Azerbaijan to Italy via Turkey, Greece and Albania. The SGC would transport up to 16 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas to Europe, with an estimated construction cost of over 40 billion US Dollars.

The SGC includes three pipelines: The South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), the Trans-Anatolian-Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

The SCP (the first leg of the SGC), which has been in operation since late 2006, runs from Azerbaijan to Georgia. The 692 kilometre SCP, which transports natural gas from the Shah Deniz field to the Georgian-Turkish border, lies approximately 15 kilometre from Azerbaijan’s border districts of Aghstafa and Tovuz, where recent clashes took place.

President Zelensky betrokken bij verkeersongeluk
Oekraïens president Zelensky is woensdag betrokken geraakt bij een verkeersongeluk toen hij terugkeerde naar Kiev. Zijn woordvoerder meldt dat de auto waarin Zelensky reed met een ander voertuig in botsing kwam. De president is daarbij niet ernstig gewond geraakt, maar werd wel onderzocht door ambulancepersoneel. Waar het verkeersongeluk precies plaatsvond, is niet bekend gemaakt.

De bestuurder van de wagen waar de auto van Zelensky mee botste is door een ambulance afgevoerd. De politie doet onderzoek naar de omstandigheden van het ongeval.

De Oekraïense president was woensdag op bezoek in Izjoem, een stad in het noordoosten van het land in de regio Charkiv die recent heroverd is door het Oekraïense leger. Hij had er een ontmoeting met de militairen die de stad bevrijd hebben.

Scholz: 'Poetin ziet oorlog niet als vergissing'
